Vehicle Accidents

On 4/16/2010 Courtney L. Williams of New Holland was cited for harassment at 1 Colonial park. New Holland Police responded the to the location as above for reports of a Domestic dispute between cousins. Upon arrival Officers determined that Courtney L. Williams & Ashley L. Mullis began shoving each other and then slapping each other.   Both parties were issued citations for harassment.

On 4/23/2010 Lee Zhi of 341 West Main Street New Holland is being charged with Harassment for an incident that occurred at his place of employment between him and another employee.

On 4/16/2010 Daniel S. Myers of Lititz and Austin D. welsh of Bowmansville New Holland Police responded to 621 Martindale Road for a vehicle crash upon arrival officers determined that a vehicle operated by Daniel S Myers pulled in front of the vehicle operated by Austin D. Walsh. Myers was issued a citation for violating vehicles entering or crossing roadway. Walsh was transported to Lancaster general hospital for evaluation.

On 4/16/2010 Jeffrey M. Molloy of Narvon and Robert L. Hoover of Reading New Holland Police responded to 685 West Main Street for a vehicle crash. Upon arrival officers determined that a vehicle operated by Jeffery M. Malloy impacted the rear portion operated of a vehicle operated by Robert L. Hoover. Molloy was issued a citation for violating following too closely requirement.

On 4/16/2010 Criminal Arrested of juvenile New Holland Police responded to Garden Spot high School for report of drug violation. Upon arrival a 14 year old female student was found in possession of marihuana. The female subsequently charged with possession of small amount of marihuana.

On 4/25/2010 Retail theft of  juveniles of the ages of 12 and 17 New Holland Police responded to Yoder’s Market for reports of retail theft incident. Upon arrival Officers determined to two New Holland juveniles removed items from the store without paying for them. Both juveniles were charged with retail theft and released to their parents.

On 4/26/2010 Criminal Arrest of a juvenile age 15 New Holland Police responded to Garden Spot High School for report of a student threatening another student. Upon arrival Officer took custody of a the 15 year old student and charged him with terroristic threat.

The student was subsequently detained at the youth intervention center.

On 4/25/2010 Natalie Marie Wood Age 23 of Gap Pa is being charged with theft for taking 112 prescription[J1]  pills from 313 Wissler Rd in Earl Twp.

On 4/16/2010 Stephanie Good Age 26 New Holland Police are investigating theft from vehicle parked at154 Bridle Path and 117 Bridle Path in East Twp. The vehicles owners reported their unlocked vehicles were parked between 1900 hrs and 0515 hrs April 15-16. The homeowners came out this am and discovered items missing from their vehicles.

Frank Kourt Jr of 117 Bridle Path Age 19 reported missing sunglasses and a small amount of change from his 2001 GMC Denali.

Good reported missing a small amount of money from her 1999 Toyota Avalon NHPD urges residents to lock their vehicles and remove valuable items from them. The PD has received several reports over the last week of individuals seen looking into cars at night. Police urge residents to call Police if they see anything suspicious.

On 4/27 /2010 Jonathan Laird of 334 East Jackson Street New Holland age 46 And Todd Hail of 16 B South Custer Ave New Holland Age 42 New Holland Police responded to West Main Street and Custer Ave New Holland for a fight in progress. NHPD Officers found Hail and Laird in an altercation in the street. Officer broke up the fight and had the males checked by New Holland Ambulance, both refused treatment.

Both males were cited by officer J T Young with Disorderly Conduct. The males know each other and got into an altercation over a disagreement.

On 4/21/2010 Victoria Elizabeth Bauder New Holland Police conducted a traffic stop on 330 East Main Street at 2240. Occupant  Victoria Elizabeth Bauder as a passenger in this vehicle. Bauder was found in possession of a marihuana smoking device Bauder was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

On 4/18/2010 Cameron D Morgan was charged for driving under the influence. Officer Yanarella  stopped  Morgan in the 1000 block of West Main Street for a traffic violation. Yanarella found Morgan to be under the influence of alcohol. Morgan was taken to ECH for a BAC (results pending ).

Charges of DUI, and under drinking are pending against Morgan.

On 4/21/2010 New Holland Police are currently investigating a home invasion robbery that occurred at 361 East Main Street  0004hrs. Three males entered the residences with weapons and assaulted the 2 males and 1 female occupants. Two males victims were struck in the head with a butt of a shotgun and are currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.

Officer Dan Achenbach was on patrol in the area when he was flagged down by one of the residents reporting the incident. NHPD officer Achenbach, Metzler, Deshong and Custer stopped a vehicle in the area and apprehended 4 subjects who are currently in custody at NHPD.

Detectives are currently interviewing the suspects, arrests are pending and an updated press release will be completed.

On 3/21/2010 David Wagner of 745 Wallace Rd New Holland is being charged with DUI after being stopped by the New Holland Police on south Railroad Ave at Franklin Street at 0210 hours. Wagner submitted to a blood test which was later analyzed and resulted in a BAC of .09%.


Public Drunkenness- On 3/20/10 at 6:03 pm, at 436 Brimmer Avenue, police responded to a report of a bicycle crash. Upon arrival Officers observed Kelly S. Boske, 47, of 13 Brimmer Avenue, being treated by emergency medical personnel. Boske was cited for public drunkenness.

DUI arrest- On 3/20/10 at 1:55 am, in the 100 block of North Shirk Road, Adam J. Byers, 28, of 117 Old Mill Road, Ephrata, was stopped by Office Wendell Metzler for erratic driving. Byers was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was taken for a blood alcohol content exam. Charges are pending the results.

Warrant Service/Drug Arrest- On 3/16/10 at 2:55 pm, at the intersection of S Ranck Road and East Main Street, Miguel Enrique Vializ Jr, 18, of 1257 East Earl Road, was arrested on an outstanding warrant and was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was taken in front of District Justice Rodney Hartman for the warrant and drug charge. Judge Hartman set bail at $900.00 for the warrant and $2,500.00 for the drug charge. Vializ was unable to post the bail and was transported to Lancaster County Prison. 

Trespassing- On 3/17/10 at 7:20 pm, at Garden Spot High School, Gary W. Stephany, 50, of 415 Franklin Street Denver, PA, was observed on school property attending an event in the auditorium. He was confronted by school officials and told to leave the property. Stephany had previously been notified by school administration that he was not allowed on school property. On 3/18/10, Detective Heisse filed a citation for Trespassing against Stephany with Judge Hartman.

Public Drunkenness- On 3/19/10 at 6:34 pm, in the 200 block of West Main Street, James Walcott, age 50, of 595 East Main Street, was witnessed staggering down the sidewalk and into the street. Walcott was stopped and found to be under the influence of alcohol. Walcott was placed into custody and issued a citation. Walcott gave a portable breath test and showed a reading of .176%. He was then transported  home.

Warrant Service- On 4/5/10 at 12:25 pm, at 426 Daryl Lane, Charlie Yang of 31 Cheery Lane, Denver, PA, arrived to pick up some of his possessions, which is when his information was checked by the police and it showed he had an active bench warrant for t heft. Yange was turned over to the Sherriff's Department and taken to the Lancaster County Prison.

Attempted  Break-in- On 4/6/10, 1:35 am, at 9:20 W. Main St. Police were dispatched to an alarm at Sal's Pizza. Upon arrival officer's noticed a broken window to the rear of the business. After searching the building it was determined that no one had gained entry into the business. Nothing had been taken.

Vandalism- On 4/6/10, at 117 E. Main St., Ed Bryan of New Holland stated a cable box attached an exterior wall of his apartment has been damaged sometime during the last two weeks. Bryan did not have a damage estimate.

Theft- On 4/5/10, 12:00 pm, at 828 West Main Street, the police responeded to the New Holland McDonalds for report of a theft not in progress. Upon arrival patron Eun Sook Oh of Lancaster indicated that her wallet was taken while she was inside the restaraunt. The police are attempting to identify a green Ford Super Duty pick up truck in connection to this theft. This truck is a quad cab with an after market aluminum flat bed.  It was occupied by three white males, possibly a father and two sons. The truck was observed pulling a single axle New Holland manure spreader.

Domestic Dispute- On 3/22/10, 1:13 pm, at 104 Hill Road, the police responded to a domestic dispute. After meeting with the parties it was discovered that Joshua Gregory, age 22, of 104 Hill Road New Holland, PA, had an outstanding bench warrant from Cambria County, PA. Gregory was arrested on the warrant and committed Lancaster County Prision.

Simple Assault- On 3/24/10, 5:46 pm, at Easter Jackson Street, Isaiah Stillman, age 18, of East Jackson Street, New Holland, PA, was arrested for simple assault domestic violence related after the he pushed a family member during a verbal arguement. The juvenile family member fell to the ground and was injured. The family member needed to seek medical treatment for the injury. Stillman was arrested and charged with one count of simple assault. Stillman was transported  to the Lancaster City Central arraignment, where custody was turned over.

Criminal Trespassing- On 4/4/10, 10:28 pm, at 31 Diller Avenue, Police were dispatched to a burglary in progress. The victim called police to report someone breaking into his barn. The barn is located the callers house. Upon arrival, Office Zimmerman of the Police force walked behind the barn and found Ryan I. Childs, age 21, actively breaking in. Childs saw Officer Zimmerman and fled on foot. After a short foot chase, Zimmerman took Childs into custody. It was determined that Childs did enter the barn, exit, and then tried to break into a different part of the barn where a garage was located. Childs was charged with Criminal Trespassing and loitering and prowling at night. He was transported to Central Arraignment, and was found to be on probation and a detainer was issued. He will be held in Lancaster County Prison.

Vandalism- On 4/4/10, 4:10 pm, at South Custer Avenue and Main Street, police responded to a report of vandalism to vehicles. Officers discovered that vehicles operated by Thelma K. Martin, New Holland, and Earl Derr Jr., of Columbia, were damaged by BB's.

Criminal Arrest- On 4/4/10, 9:00 am, at 140 East Main Street, Jeffrey Michael Smith, age 39, of 19 Buckwalter Road, Spring City, was stopped for an expired registration plate. During the stop it was discovered that Smith used his truck registration to make it appear his motorcycle registration was current. Smith also did not have the motorcycle insured, or inspected. Smith will be charged with altered, forged documents, expired registration, no inspection, and no insurance.

Theft- On 4/3/10, at 59 Ashlea Gardens, Paul McWilliams, age 27, reported he allowed a homeless male to stay with him overnight. He awoke to find a credit card, leather jacket, and various prescription medications missing from his residence along with the homeless male.

Warrant Service- On 3/30/10, at 11:25 pm, at 146 East Franklin Street, Julian Dwayne Johns, age 33, of 146 East Franklin Street apartment 342, New Holland, was taken into custody for an outstanding drug warrant. He was taken without incident and turned over to the Sherriff's department.

Theft- On 4/7/10, between the hours of 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm, CB Structures of 202 Orion Road, New Hollad, had $1,700.00 stolen from a desk in an upstairs office area of their building.

Vehicle Accident-  On 4/8/10, 7:29 pm, at the 500 block of East Main Street, police responded to a vehicle accident. Upon arrival, police learned that David W. Brighton, age 41, of 302 Mentzer Avenue New Holland, had crashed his motor scooter. Brighton was the only person involved in the crash. He was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Brighton refused medical treatment but was transported to Ephrata Community Hospital for blood alcohol testing. Charges are pending based on results.

January 27, 2010

New Holland Police investigated a minor vehicle accident between Michael Ference, age 25, Carlisle,Pa & Perry Ansel, age 59, Stevens, PA at Division Hwy and Gristmill Road in Earl Township.  Ference pulled away from a stop sign, failing to yield to oncoming traffic, striking Ansel’s vehicle.  Both vehicles’s had minor damages.  No injuries reported.  Ference was cited for a stop sign violation.

New Holland Police responded to a report of a vehicle crash at the 400 block W. Main Street, New Holland. Upon arrival Officers determined that a vehicle operated by Jeremy Dwayne Slabaugh impacted the rear portion of a vehicle operated by Domingo Colon.

Slabaugh was issued a citation for following too closely.

February 08, 2010

On  February 8th, Kayla Knauer was making a left hand turn into McDonalds and failed to yield to a vehicle driven by Michael Frybarger who was traveling east on W. Main St.  Frybarger was unable to stop and struck Knauer’s vehicle. No one was injured.  No towing required.

Gregory Gates, Age 58, Liverpool, Pa was driving his Mac tractor-trailer west on E. Main St.  Gates did not see the light change at the intersection of Main St & N. Railroad Ave due to the setting sun.  As a result Gates entered the intersection and struck Leo Lizotte, Age 50, Carlisle, Pa. No one was injured.

Anne Horton, Age 44, New Holland, was driving her 2003 Isuzu west on Huyard Road. As she approached the stop sign at N. Shirk Road,  Lloyd Zimmerman, Age 71, New Holland was turning his horse and buggy off of N. Shirk Road onto Huyard Road.  Horton attempted to stop but slid on the icy roadway and struck the buggy. No person or animal was injured in this accident.

February 9, 2010

Ahmed Yarrow, Age 35, Lancaster, Pa, was following J. Roberto Ramos, Age 53, Ephrata, Pa on the 3400 block of Division Hwy.  Traffic stopped suddenly and Yarrow’s 2000 Pontiac struck Ramos’s 2008 Nissan.  Yarrow was transported to Lancaster General Hospital for complaint of neck pain.

On February 9th, Michael Weidman fell asleep while driving north on N. Kinzer Ave and struck a parked car owned by Diane Frost.  Weidman was cited for careless driving and driving under suspension.  Ashley Weidman, who was a passenger with Michael, was transported to ECH for head and neck pain.  Both vehicles were towed by Blue Ball Garage.

Weidman was arrested for violating a court ordered PFA as a result of being in the area of the incident at N. Kinzer Ave and State St in New Holland.

Intoxications

February 2, 2010

New Holland Police observed Joseph Paul Sheesley, Age 54, of Goodville, stumbling down the sidewalk on Tuesday afternoon.  When Officers attempted to interact with Sheesley, he took off running.  Sheesley was located a short time later hiding in an unlocked residential shed.

Sheesley was issued a citation for public drunkenness after Officers determined his bllod alchol content to be .155%.  Sheesley was remanded to Lancaster County Prison on $1,000 bail.

February 2, 2010

On January 29, 2010 at 1220 hrs, Officer Laughlin responded to Garden Spot High Scholl for a fight involving two females,  ages 14 & 15.  After an investigation and reviewing security cameras, Officer McLaughlin has issued both females citations for Disorderly Conduct.

February 3, 2010

A 17 year old female student from Narvon, PA was cited for summary harassment after she punched a 13 year old student from Narvon, PA at dismissal time on above date while students were loading on busses at Garden Spot High School.

Mark A. Degenito, 46, Akron, was arrested on January 30, 2010 at 11:55pm in the first block of South Broad St.  Police were called to the area for an incident involving a male threatening people and claiming to have a gun.  Degenito was ID as the male from witnesses.  Police then located Degenito hiding in a yard.  Degenito fought with Officers from the Lititz Borough and Warwick Twp and was tasered once before he could be arrested.  Degenito was charged with Terroristic Threats, Resisting Arrest and Loitering/Prowling at Night.  Degenito was arranged at Lancaster City PD central booking and committed to LCP.

New Holland Police responded to the China One restaurant for a disturbance in progress.   Upon arrival Officers determined that a male patron was yelling obscenities toward other customers.  The male fled the scene prior to Officers arrival. 

The male was subsequently located and identified as Joseph Schmidt.  Schmidt was issued a citation for harassment.

Thefts

Ray Hoover Martin contacted New Holland Police to report a bicycle theft.  Martin stated that his daughter’s burgundy “Iron Horse” bicycle was stolen while she attended school on Monday, Feb 1,2010.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the New Holland Police at 717-354-4647.

Officer Willwerth arrested Beiler at his residence on an outstanding criminal warrant from Lancaster City for Criminal Solicitation.  Beiler was turned over to LCPD.

Sexual Assault Incidents

January 30, 2010

New Holland Police responded to 23 Brimmer Ave for a reported sexual assault that just occurred.  The victim who resided in an apt at that address reported that Orlando S. Johnson, Age 23, of 140 E. Main St Apt 3, New Holland, forced his way into her apartment while asking her for a cigarette.  Once inside Johnson attempted to get the victim to perform oral sex on him after he removed his pants and underwear.  The victim fled the residence and called police.  NHPD found Johnson at his residence and arrested him without incident.

Johnson was interviewed by Det. Heisse and charged with Burglary, Criminal Attempt Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse and Indecent Exposure.  At the time of this press release Johnson was being arraigned at Lancaster County Central arrangement.  Committed to Lancaster County Prison on $75,000 bail.

February 2, 2010

Today Heriberto Vasquez-Lopez, Age 20, Lancaster, PA, was arrested by Detective Heissee and Offericer Jed Custer at his workplace in East Cocalico Twp. Det. Heisse had been conducting a month long investigation into allegations made by a 14 year old New Holland female that Vasquez-Lopez had engaged in sexual intercourse with her in New Holland Borough.  As a result of the investigation, the following charges were filed against Vasquez-Lopez:

Rape by forcible compulsion—3 counts

Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse

Criminal Attempt Involuntary Sexual Intercourse

Unlawful Restraint—3 counts

False Imprisonment—3 counts

Statutory Sexual Assault—3 counts

Corruption of Minors

Endangering Welfare of Children

 

The incidents took place in Vasquez-Lopez vehicle and at the victims residence in New Holland Borough.  They occurred between July 12th and August 31, 2009

Police consulted with the Lancaster County District Attorneys office on charges.

Vasquez-Lopez was arranged before MDJ Rodney Hartman of New Holland who committed him to LCP in lieu of $400,000 cash bail.

On January 11th of 2010 Officer Custer is filing charges of DUI against Andrew Walker (21) after he was stopped on December 16th of 2009 for a Traffic Violation. The results of a blood test showed Walker to have a BAC of .13%.

On January 11th of 2010 Maurren Margaret Dziedzic (44) was arrested for Public Drunkenness at Magisterial District Judge Rodney Hartman’s office.

On January 11th of 2010 Officer Custer is filing charges of DUI against Andrew Walker (21) after he was stopped on December 16th of 2009 for a traffic violation. The results of a blood test showed walker to have a BAC of .13%.

On January 12th of 2010, New Holland Police investigated a vehicle accident on North Railroad Ave. and Linden Grove Road. Driver 1 Michele Newswanger (35) of East Earl was traveling eastbound on Linden Grove Road. Newswanger was operating a 2002 Ford Sedan and failed to stop at the intersection of Linden Grove Road at N. Railroad Ave. Newswanger then struck Sandy Snook (46) of Ephrata who was traveling south on N. Railroad Ave. Snook’s Chevrolet SUV flipped over several time before coming to a stop on the property of 760 N. Railroad Ave. Newswanger was not injured. Snook, who walked away from the accident, was transported to Ephrata Hospital.

On January 19th of 2010 Erika Zumpano (18) failed to negotiate a left curve in the 500 Block of Overly’s Grove Road and after leaving the roadway traveled through a small stream coming to rest in a grassy field. Zumpano was transported to Lancaster Regional Hospital with minor facial injuries. Zumpano was issued a citation for Careless driving.

On January 19th of 2010 Lewis Krause was stopped at E. Jackson Street and attempted to cross Brimmer Avenue when he pulled into the path of Maryam Varamini who was traveling on Brimmer Avenue. No injuries, Varamini’s vehicle required towing. Officer Yanarella cited Krause for Stop and Yield Sighs.

On January 19th of 2010 Officer Willwerth stopped a 14 year old male for riding his bike without proper lighting. Willwerth was going to transport the male home, during their conversation the male advised Willwerth he was in possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The male turned the paraphernalia over to Willwerth who is filed charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with Lancaster County Juvenile Authorities.

On December 21st of 2009 Officer Yanarella arrested David Morales (36) on an outstanding traffic warrant at 146 E. Main Street. Morales was turned over to Constables.

 On January 4th of 2010 New Holland Police received a criminal mischief complaint at 10 North Railroad Ave in New Holland Borough. It appeared unknown actor's) smashed a window of a vacant building at that location. Approx. amount of damage is $200 dollars.

 On January 7th of 2010 at 00:23 hours, New Holland Police observed Jason E. Keith stumbling across the rear parking lot of their Police Department. Officers interacted with Keith and determined that he was manifestly under the influence of alcohol. The results of a portable breath test indicated Keith's blood alcohol content was .288%. Keith was issued a citation for Public Drunkenness.

 On January 7th of 2010 As reported in a previous press release, Christopher M. Shields (37) was charged with writing several closed account checks to businesses in Earl Township in early December 2009. On December 26th of 2009 shields was arrested by E. Lampeter PD on outstanding warrants from NHPD after he was found to be living in a motel on Lincoln Highway in E. Lampeter. Shields has now been charged by Det Heisse with writing two closed account checks to Fastenal-641 W Main Street in Earl Twp. on December 7th and December 9th 2009 totaling over $900. Shields has also been charged by Det Heisse with Fugitive from justice after he was found to have an extraditable warrant from Douglas County Sheriff's Office. Shields remains in LCP after being arraigned by MDJ Rodney Hartman on all charges.

On November 11th of 2009 at 00:45 hours, Jorge Gonzales-Velez (18) of Goodville was stopped for multiple moving violations. Gonzalez-Velez was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a suspended license. After receiving the blood results back from the lap Gonzalez-Velez is being charged with DUI as a Minor with a .03% BAC (.02% is required for people under 21yo), Driving with suspended license and underage drinking. 

On December 13th of 2009 at 08:40 hours, New Holland Police responded to 700 Block of Peters Road report of a vehicle crash involving a rolled over vehicle. Upon arrival Officers determined that a Doge Caravan operated by Ephrain Z. Stoltxfus slid on ice. Stoltzfus vehicle then exited the roadway and roleld over before coming to a rest in a field. Stoltzfus was issued a citation for driving vehicle at safe speeds.

 On December 13th of 2009 at 09:36 hours, New Holland Police responded to 700 Block of Maple Grove road for report of a vehicle crash. Upon arrival Officers determinded that a vehicle operated by Shawn P. Stahl slid on the ice and struck a utility pole. Stahl was issued a citation for violation driving vehicle at safe speed requirements.

 On December 13 of 2009 at 08:47 hours, New Holland Police investigated a minor vehicle accident in the 200 block of Martindale Road in Earl Township. It was found that the driver of vehicle one Donald E. Steffy (38) of Earl was traveling westbound on Martinsdale Road and struck ice on the roadway. Steffy lost control of his vehicle and travelled into the opposite lance of travel striking a horse and buggy driven by Amos Zimmerman (32). There were no injuries, the buggy sustained damage to the wheel causing it to be un-drivable.

 On December 13th of 2009 at 07:57 hours, New Holland Police responded to the 600 block of New Holland Road for a report of a vehicle crash. Upon arrival Officers determined that a vehicle operated by Joan S. Bensinger slid on ice and stuck an embankment. Bensinger was issued a citation for driving vehicle at a safe speed.

 On December 13th of 2009 at 08:30 hours, New Holland Police investigated a minor accident at the 300 block of East Farmersville Road. The driver Heidi R. Wenger (42) struck ice, lost control of her vehicle and stuck a small sign and embankment. No injuries were reported, No towing.

 On December 13th of 2009 at 10:50 hours, New Holland Police responded to 718 Maple Grove Road for a report of a vehicle into a creek. Upon arrival Officers determined that a vehicle operated by Bryant J. Kurtz slid on ice and traveled off the roadway. Kurtz's vehicle then slid down an embankment and into a stream. Kurtz and his passengers escaped injury and were able to exit the vehicle and make it to shore. Kurtz was issued a citation for driving vehicle at a safe speed.

 On December 14th of 2009, New Holland Police responded to the New Holland Auto Group for a report of a theft. Upon arrival, Officers determined that a tailgate was removed from a 2010 Ford F-250 Super Duty. The color of this tailgate was dark blue pearl. This tailgate was taken sometime over the weekend.  On December 21st of 2009 at 17:05 hours, New Holland Police responded to Jackson Street at Custer Avenue for report of a vehicle crash. Upon arrival, Officers determined that a vehicle operated by Luke B. Kurtz struck a utility pole. Kurtz was issued a citation for violating driving on roadways landed for traffic.

 On December 22ed of 2009 at 13:20 hours, Parke Rineer of Conestoga had a green light and was making a left hand turn into Main Street from Gorge Delp Rd. at that time Alexander Kepiro of Lancaster was traveling east bound on Main Street and ran the red light striking Rineer's Truck. No injuries or towing required.

 On December 22ed of 2009 at 17:35 hours, A 1987 Ford Ranger driven by Paul Shirk (19) of Denver slid off the roadway striking a telephone pole. Vehicle had to be towed from the scene, driver was not injured.

 On December 23rd of 2009 at 10:00 hours, Kelly B. Aul (31) of Denver was arrested by Detective Heisse on charges of Theft of Deception after she issued a check to Yoders on December 5th of 2009 which was drawn on a closed account. Aul was arrested at her residence without incident. Aul was arraigned by MDJ Rodney Hartman who committed her to LCP in lieu of COCALICO Twp PD assisted with the arrest.

On December 7th of 2009 at 114 E. Main Street New Holland, Shirley Rollman caused a three car chain reaction collision when she stuck the rear of a van driven by Kevin Stoltzfus (47) of Leola forcing it into a SUV driven by Doreen Reid (30) of Lancaster. A juvenile in the Reid vehicle was taken to Lancaster General Hospital with unknown injuries. The collision is currently under investigation.

On December 7th of 2009 at Diller Ave & Locust Street, Joseph Sheesley was arrested for public drunkenness after being observed staggering and almost falling into the street. During the arrest Sheesley was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Charges will be filled.

On December 8th of 2009 at 88 Diller Ave, Davnder Janjua from Fresno CA reported that another person at Shooter’s Crossing followed him outside and took his wallet from him. The suspect was described as a white male with salt and pepper hair and approximately 40 years of age. Janjua said he had between $800.00 to $900.00 dollars in his wallet at the time.

On October 9th of 2009 at 22:00 hours, Jeremy Englerth was stopped for altering his registration plate. After further investigating Englerth was found to be in possession of counterfeit inspection and emission stickers, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and vicodin not prescribed to him. Charges were filed.

On November 21st of 2009 at 04:24 hours. NHPD officers were called to 16 S Custer Ave for a female having difficulty breathing after an assault. Upon the officer’s arrival Justin Caverly (23) refused to open the door. Police could see the female bleeding from her face at which time Officer Metzler forced the door to render aid to the female. The female told police she fell while having an argument with Caverly causing her injury. Caverly was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and committed to LCP by MDJ Rodney Hartman on $10,000 bail. The female refused medical attention and refused to cooperate with police.

On November 21st of 2009 Officer Metzler issued Antonio Jackson (20) for Underage Drinking after he was found to have been consuming alcohol in a vehicle that was stopped by police for a traffic violation. Jackson was a passenger in the vehicle.

On November 22 at 05:00 hours, NHPD Officers Dan Achenbach and Wendell Metzler responded to the Sunshine Center Laundromat for a male causing a disturbance. Upon arrival Officers found Howard Ford (26) intoxicated and using obscene language. The Laundromat had patrons inside at the time. Ford refused to produce identification and struggle with Officers as they attempted to place him under arrest. Ford was taken to Ephrata Hospital by New Holland Ambulance and police for evaluation after he struggled with Officers during his arrest. Ford had been charged by Achenbach with Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness.

On November 22nd of 2009 Charges are being filed today against Leotis Reed III (29) by Officer Wendell Metzler stemming from a traffic stop on October 30th of 2009 at 22:46 hours. At the time Reed was found to be intoxicated and taken into custody for DUI. Today Charges of DUI and Careless driving are being filed against Reed. Reed’s BAC was found to be .09%.

On November 22nd of 2009 at 14:31 hours Officer Deshong investigated a two vehicle accident at 3414 Division Hwy (earl twp). Justin Garbe (24) of Ephrata was travelling east on Route 322 when he swerved into the westbound lane and struck a vehicle being driven by Zach Walter (21) of Ephrata. Both vehicles required towing all parties refused medical treatment. Garbe is being sent a summons for Driving on Roadways laned for Traffic. Blue Ball Fire Company assisted PD at the scene.

On November 24th of 2009 at 11:55 hours, Officer Deshong investigated a vehicle accident at 800 block of North Railroad Ave. John Gould III (52) of New Holland was traveling south on North Railroad Ave when he lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a curve in the road. Gould’s vehicle left the roadway and struck a pole and ended up in a field. No Injuries the vehicle required towing. Gould is being sent a summons for Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic.

On November 24th of 2009 at 20:8 hours. New Holland Police were called to Garden Spot High School for burglary in process. The School is currently undergoing a major renovation. As part of the renovation contractors have numerous jobs and storage trailer. Police were called when an employee of the school observed individuals breaking into a storage trailer. Upon arrival of Officers David Hughes and Jed Custer they found a Jeep Cherokee with three occupants in front of the school on school property. The Jeep fled when officers approached it. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but lost sight of it when it went into a neighboring residence. Police found the vehicle parked behind Oneil’s body shop in the 500 block of East Main Street within minutes. The vehicle was found to have large spools of insulated copper wire which had been taken from the schools job site. A witness reported seeing three males fun from the jeep after parking it behind Oneil’s. New Holland Police searched the area for the suspects who were on foot running behind homes and businesses south of East Main Street. Officers from Ephrata Borough, East Earl, Warwick, West Earl and East Lampeter Township responded to assist New Holland. Officer David Hughes arrested Frank Harrison (18) of 618 Liberty Street Lancaster after he was found a short distance from the vehicle. After an hour long manhunt, Officer Jed Custer of NHPD arrested Jason Maldonado (23) of 618 liberty Street Lancaster and a 17 year old hempfield male in the 100 block of East Jackson Street after a witness reported them running from the railroad tracks onto East Jackson Street. Charges:  All individuals were charged by Detective Heisse of NHPD with Burglary, Theft by Unlawful taking or Disposition and Criminal Conspiracy. Officers recovered 9 spools of insulated copper wire valued at over $3,000. MDJ Rodney Hartman of New Holland arraigned Harrison and Maldonado. Harrison’s bail was set to $75,000 and Maldonado’s at $150,000 both were committed to LCP in lieu of bail. The juvenile was committed to the Lancaster County Youth Center by Lancaster County Juvenile probation.

On November 24th of 2009 at 07:33 hours, New Holland Police responded to Tower Road in New Holland for a report of a vehicle crash. Upon arrival Officers determined that a vehicle operated by a sixteen year old Narvon male impacted the rear portion of a vehicle operated by Migual Angel Jimenez. The sixteen year old male was issued a citation for following too closely.

On November 25th of 2009 at 14:59 hours, New Holland Police responded to the 800 block of West Main Street for a report of a vehicle crash. Upon arrival officers determined that a vehicle operated by a sixteen year old Leola Male struck the rear portion of a vehicle operated by Amanda Martin. The sixteen year old was issued a citation for following too closely.

On November 26th of 2009 at 01:40 hours, New Holland Police was dispatched to the Squire Motor Inn for an unknown problem. Upon arrival police found Amy Poole in a room she was not suppose to be in. Poole was found to be highly intoxicated and admitted to forcibly kicking two room doors open which caused approximately $500.00 to 1,000.00 in damage. Charges to be filed.

On December 3rd of 2009 at 15:53 hours, New Holland Police responded to 142 N. Shirk Road for a report of a vehicle crash. Upon arrival officers determined that a vehicle operated by Timothy May III departed the roadway and struck a utility pole. May III and his passengers were transported to Ephrata Community Hospital for treatment. May III was issued a citation for violating roadway laned for traffic.

 

Retail Theft- On November 17th of 2009 at 15:30 hours, officers to Yoder’s Market at 14 S. Tower Road for a report of a shoplifter. Store Mangers stopped a juvenile for attempting to steal a $1.99 can of “monster” energy drink in his sweatshirt. Juvenile was arrested for a summary offense Retail Theft.

Criminal Mischief- Sometime between late Sunday Night November 15th and Early Morning on November 16th of 2009 unknown person(s) caused damage to approximately 18 vehicles that were parked in the area of the 100 block of Orlon Street New Holland Borough. There were an additional 22 vehicles both new and used damaged at Turner Buick located at 612 E Main Street New Holland. It appears as though some type of caustic liquid was splattered on the vehicles damaging the paint on all the vehicles. It is unknown at this time the monetary amount of the damage. The police department is still waiting for estimates to be reported to the department. IT dose not appear to be the same as the person who was causing damage to vehicles in Lancaster City and Lancaster Township, but the department will be in contact with Lancaster City Detectives.

Domestic/Charges- On November 14th at 12:54pm, Officers responded to 131 E. Main Street Apt A1, New Holland for a report of a man with a gun to his head and threatening suicide. Prior to officer’s arrival they were informed that the man later identified as Joshua Echardt (21) had the gun taken from him and he ran from the apartment.  The investigation determined that this incident started as a domestic disturbance and during the disturbance Echardt threatened to kill his fiancé. Echardt then pulled out a loaded handgun and threatened to shoot himself. There were other people in the apartment at the time of this incident and two of those people took the gun away from Echardt and Echardt then ran from the scene. Echardt was charged with Terroristic Threats and Recklessly Endangering and warrants were obtained. Echardt was arrested on November 17th at 4:45pm, when he returned to the apartment to pick up his things. He was transported to MDJ David Miller where he was arraigned and bail was set at $10,000.00. Echardt was committed to Lancaster County Prison in default of bail.

Vandalism- On November 14th thru the 15th, Tuner Buick reported vandalism to 20-30 new and used vehicles that were parked on their lot. The cars were apparently sprayed at random with a caustic solution that destroyed paint and etched glass. Investigation is ongoing.

Vandalism- In the week of November 1st of 2009, Mel Cummings reported that a CATV wire to this house was cut. No Suspects.

Vandalism- On November 15th of 2009, Karen Gingrich, Kelly Smoker and Kristin Hart all of the 100 block of Orlon Street reported damage to their vehicles. All reported that someone had sprayed a substance on the vehicles which had damage the paint in various locations. No suspects at this time.

Public Drunkenness and Disorderly Conduct- On November 14th at 00:36 hours Officer Michael Zimmerman observed Joshua Michael Welsh stagger across the road in front of 88 Diller Ave. Welsh was stopped for public drunkenness. It was than determined that Welsh was acting disorderly inside Shooter’s Crossing and was kicked out the bar. It was found that Welsh was arguing and threatening with patrons inside the bar and was told to leave. Welsh was issue citations for public Drunkenness and disorderly conduct and was driven home.

Vandalism- On November 8th of 2009 a resident of 523 Westfield Dr.  Reported that a concrete Lion from in her front yard of her home. Also reported a second concrete Lion was smashed in front of her home. Occurred 11-7-09 loss is $150.

Aggravated Assault- On October 10th of 2009 The Pennsylvania State Police investigated an Aggravated assault that occurred at 205 Maple Street (Leacock TWP.) The victim is in a domestic relationship with the accused. The victim was asleep and was woken by the accused Calvin Bartholomue after being struck with a baseball bat multiple times in the head and arm. The victim received a fractured elbow and multiple lacerations from the attack. The victim was then chocked unconscious. After regaining conscious the victim was unlawfully restrained in her bedroom under the threat of further abuse for multiple hours. The accused was apprehended on 10/11/09 in Salisbury Twp. Lancaster County. The accused was arraigned before the Lancaster County On-Call MDJ Bruce Roth and bail was set at $100,000.00. The accused is currently incarcerated at the Lancaster County Prison. The accused was charged with Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Restraint, Recklessly Endangering another person and Possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. **update** the preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday November 11th at 1430 hours at District Court 02-3-05. The address is 14 Center St. intercourse pa. It is anticipated that newsworthy information will be disclosed at trial.

Vehicle Theft- Between September 4th and September 5th of 2009 unknown Actor(s) removed a 1994 Ford Ranger from the front of County Lane Lawn Care. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the PA State Police at Ephrata at 717-721-7667. 

Burglary- On October 25th of 2009 at 0820 hours the resident reported a burglary that occurred overnight. A Garmin GPS unit was taken from the unlocked vehicle in the garage. The garage was also unlocked. 

Prohibitive of Offensive Weapons- On October 25th of 2009 at 1820 hours, Steigerwalt was stopped for a traffic violation and was found to be in possession of a blackjack which he cannot legally possess. 

Harassment and Trespassing- On October 27th at 1041 hours, Clea Alexis Gurthridge of Lancaster was cited for Harassment and Trespassing for her part in a domestic disturbance that occurred at the New Holland Apartments. 

Vehicle Accident- On October 29th of 2009 at 2155 hours, New Holland PD was dispatched to a vehicle accident with entrapment. It was determined the vehicle was traveling east on Main Street and failed to negotiate a left hand curve. The vehicle traveled through a small portion of the New Holland Borough parking lot and struck a bank which vaulted it into the porch at 504 E Main Street where it rolled onto the driver’s side. The driver had to be extricated by Fire and EMS. The driver, Robert C Innes Jr, was transported to Lancaster General Hospital by Skycare. At the time of this press released that Innes was in critical condition. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Anyone with information can contact the New Holland Police at 717-354-4647. New Holland Ambulance, New Holland Fire and Medic 3-9 assisted at the scene.

Vehicle Break In- On November 1st Sometime over night unknown actor(s) entered a vehicle belonging to Nelson, Actor(s) removed his expired driver’s license. This license was later discarded by the actor(s). Police recovered the license and returned to him. Various other vehicles were entered the same development with items stolen.

Vehicle Accident- On November 5th at 1650 hours officers was dispatched to a vehicle accident involving injuries. A vehicle being driven by Elizabeth Shank from Ephrata was attempting to make a left turn when she was struck from behind by Sanford Martin from Ephrata. Elizabeth was taken to Ephrata Community Hospital. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. 

Harassment- On November 6th at 1550 hours, Officer Mark Willwerth came upon two males who had been fighting with each other. Both males were arrested and transported back to the police station. The 17 year old male was issued a citation for harassment and Eric Prudhomme (30) of New Holland will receive a citation for harassment in the mail. 

Criminal Arrest- As previously reported in an earlier press release, NHPD is investigating a one vehicle accident that occurred on October 29th at 2155 hours at 504 E. Main Street. Innes was travelling east on Rt 23 (East Main Street) when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a house. Innes was trapped in the vehicle and was freed by members of the Liberty Fire Company. Today Officer Jed Custer is filling charges of DUI against Innes after his BAC was found to be between the ranges of .27% - .33%. Innes remains in LGH in critical condition.

On 10/9/09, Gina Miller, of East Earl, Pa, at 1800hrs, was waiting to make a left hand turn into Garden Spot High School when she was struck from the rear by Shawn Redcay; New Holland, Pa. Miller’s car was towed by Blue Ball Garage. Miller was also transported to LGH due to neck and shoulder pain.

On 10/10/09, 0250 Hrs. Woods and Diem, was found hiding behind a bush to the rear of the 624 W. Main St. Comfort Inn in Earl Twp. Both men will be cited for trespassing and public drunkenness.

10/10/09, between 0030-0930 hrs Accused: Calvin Bartholomue LYNCH, age 31, of Gordonville, PA 

Victim: 29 YOA, W/H-F, of Gordonville, PA

The Pennsylvania State Police investigated an aggravated assault that occurred at the above date and time location: 205 (B) Maple St, Leacock Twp. Lancaster County. The accused was apprehended on 10/11/09 in Salisbury Twp, Lancaster County. The accused was arraigned before the Lancaster County on-call MDJ Bruce Roth and bail was set at $100,000.00. The accused is currently incarcerated at the Lancaster County prison. The accused was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, recklessly endangering another parson, and possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

On 10/11/09, Ryan Childs, at 0845 hours, Officers were dispatched to 117 E. Main St. in regards to threats that occurred earlier. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Steven Bergman, 117 E. Main St. Room #3, who reported that Ryan Child, 117 E. Main Street room# 4, had threatened to break down his door, break his jaw and kill him. Childs was charged with Terroristic Threats upon information received. Childs was arraigned before District Justice Hartman for the Terroristic Threats and a previous charge of marijuana possession. Childs was committed to LCP in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Underage Drinking- New Holland Police responded to the park on 200 Locust Street for report of suspicious activity. Upon arrival Officers interacted with Jerome Lewis Mclemore. Officers found Jerome Mclemore (19) to be in possession of two bottles of partially consumed liquor. Mclemore was cited for underage drinking.

Vehicle Crash- On October 12th at 1100 hours, Officers were dispatched to a vehicle crash with no injuries in the 400 block of SW Brimmer Ave. It was determined that a vehicle driven by Howard Haldeman (51) from Bainbridge, struck driver’s side mirror of a parked vehicle owned by New Holland Borough. No Injuries occurred as a result of the crash and both vehicles sustained very minor damage.

Crash- On October 12th at 1245 hours, Officers responded to the 700 block E. Main Street for a vehicle accident with traffic lanes blocked. It was determined that Jason Zimmerman (21) from Lebanon, operated a vehicle that struck the rear of a vehicle operated by Robert Fitz Jr. (53) from Lititz. Zimmerman was charged with following too closely and his vehicle was towed by Irv Martin Towing. No injuries were reported at the scene.

Vehicle Accident- On October 12th of 2009 at 1433 hours New Holland Police was dispatched to 500 block of East Main Street for a minor accident. It was determined that driver of vehicle number 1 Henry Stouffer Jr (84) pulled out of a private drive way, failing to yield to vehicle number 2 Linda Simmons (61). Both vehicles received minor damage. No injuries.

Criminal Mischief- On October 14th Lynn Ebersole reported to police a window at his business located at 710 West Main Street in Earl Township was broken sometime overnight. It appeared the actor(s) did not enter the business. Window is valued at approx. $300.00.

Motor Vehicle Accident- On October 15th at 16:53 hours New Holland Police investigated a two motor vehicle accident with injuries. The driver of unit number one Ashley M Barton was cited for driving vehicles at safe speeds and the drive of unit number two Curtis L. Bradley was cited for not having car insurance and an expired registration.

Arrest- On October 16th at 0630 hours NHPD arrested a 16 year old female for Criminal Trespass. On July 6th of 2009 the female entered 243 E Jackson Street with other individuals where they had a party while the homeowners where on vacation. Several suspects later put pictures on MySpace showing them inside the residence. The juvenile was committed to the Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center by Lancaster Country Juvenile Probation. She was charged with Criminal Trespass.

Juvenile Detainer- On October 16th at 0710 hours Mervin Redcay (18) was arrested by Officer Mark Willwerth on an outstanding detainer issued by Lancaster County Juvenile Probation. Redcay was committed to the Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center on the outstanding detainer from a previous offense.

Criminal Arrest- On October 19th at 1530 hours Palmer was at the New Holland Elementary School to pick up her grandchild. Palmer was advised by school personnel she was not following proper pick up procedure. Palmer engaged in verbal obscene language causing school officials to contact police. Today Officer Jed Custer filed a citation for Disorderly Conduct against Palmer.

Disturbance- On October 22nd at 1847 hours New Holland Police responded to  334 E Jackson Street New Holland for a report of a fight in process. Upon arrival Officers determined that Kevin C. Dixon threatened to fight his girlfriend’s father. Dixon was issued a citation for harassment.

Vehicle Accident- On October 22nd  at 1350 hours a maroon Doge Ram truck, driven by Matthew Canfield (30) of Stevens was traveling east on Route 23 when he apparently suffered medical issue causing him to veer into the opposing lane of traffic and strike a utility pole. Matthew was transported to the hospital by New Holland Ambulance with unknown injuries. Liberty Fire Company assisted police at the scene.

Vehicle Accident- Officer Willwerth investigated a two vehicle accident at Rt 322 & Gristmill Rd on October 23rd at 1039 hours. Kenneth Alvin Sr. of Lancaster was travelling west on Rt 322 when he struck a vehicle from behind being driven by Marianne Maye of Kennett sq. Two passengers in Maye’s vehicle were transported to LGH by New Holland Ambulance. Both vehicles required towing. Alvin is being sent a summons of Careless Driving. 

Vehicle Accident- On October 23rd at 0824 hours Officer Yanarella investigated a vehicle accident involving a school bus at W Conestoga Street & N Hoover Ave. Frances Atkins of New Holland Pulled out from Conestoga Street into the path of a vehicle travelling on N Hoover Ave. being driven by Tracy Good of Ephrata The impact of the collision caused Good’s vehicle to strike a school bus being driven by Starr Miller of New Holland. The school bus had 54 students on it no one was injured on the bus. Atkins was transported to ECH.

Simple Assault- On October 23rd at 2045 hours New Holland Police arrested Norman Patterson for simple assault, domestic violence related. Patterson grabbed his girlfriend Alexiss O’Connell around the throat and pushed her against the wall. Patterson threatened O’Connell with bodily harm. Patterson was arrested and arraigned before District Justice Jene Willwerth. Patterson failed to post the $10,000 bail and was committed to Lancaster County Prison.

Vandalism- On October 25th at 1350 hours Jennifer Bell (18) of New Holland reported her vehicle was damaged while parked at 2565 Division Hwy. Bell reported a red vehicle drove by, yelling obscenities at her and threw something at her vehicle causing the passenger side window to shatter. Loss estimated at $300.

Vandalism- On October 25th several residents of the 300 block of Valley View Drive, New Holland Borough reported that their vehicles were vandalized by having mustard, ketchup sprayed on them. In total four cars were vandalized and a dollar cost for the damage is not currently available.

Fugitive from Justice- On October 25th at 2050 hours, Rodriguez was taken into custody in the parking of the Ashlea Gardens Apartment Complex for an outstanding warrant out of Puerto Rico for drugs. He was committed to Lancaster County Prison awaiting extradition back to Puerto Rico.

Possession Small Amount of Marijuana, Underage Drinking, and Disorderly Conduct- On September 30th at 1953 hours New Holland Police responded to Main Street & Roberts Avenue, New Holland for a report of a fight in process. Upon arrival Officers determined that a physical altercation occurred between Fair patrons Gordon Andresen and Ryan Ira Childs. Both parties were taken into custody as a result of this altercation. Childs was subsequently found in possession of marijuana. It was also discovered that twenty year old Childs had consumed alcoholic beverages. Childs was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, underage drinking and disorderly conduct.

Criminal Arrest- On October 27th charges of access device fraud and forgery were filed by Det Heisse against Rachael Beadencup.  Beadencup removed a credit card from her Grandmother’s home, 146 Amber Circle and used it t various locations in Lancaster County to purchase items totaling $1.012.03. The Card was used from July 1st 2009 until July 24th of 2009.

Criminal Arrest- On October 27th the New Holland Police Department is requesting public assistance in Locating James F. Findley. Findley is wanted on an outstanding warrant of Theft by Deception issued by MDJ Rodney Hartman of New Holland Findley issued a non sufficient check at a farm sale in February 2009 in Earl Township for $2.000. Fidley’s whereabouts are unknown and attempts to locate him have failed. Anyone with information on Findlay’s whereabouts is asked to contacted NHPD at 717-354-4647.

Theft- On October 28th the complainant, Krista Eberly of 519 Gristmill Road in Earl Township reported that her dark red, Harro Mountain bike was stolen sometime during the week. The bike was taken from Eberlys front porch. Approx. amount of lost in $200.00. The bike was dark red with black handle bars and seat.

Burglary- On October 28th at 0700 hours Officer Young investigated a burglary at 148 E Main Street re Uzit Shop. Employees of the business reported. Suspects entered the building and removed a small amount of cash.
