LITITZ BOROUGH POLICE REPORTS

On 4/14/2010 LBPD responded to the area of Broad and Orange Street for a 2 vehicle accident. Richard Redcay of Lititz was traveling South on South Broad Street and Donna Burkholder of Lititz was traveling West on Orange Street through the intersection with a green signal. Redcay ran the red light and struck Burkholder’s vehicle. Vehicle were able to drive from the scene and no injuries were reported.

On 4/19/2010 @ 1756 hrs the Lititz Police Department investigated a case of criminal mischief in the parking lot at 301 West Maple Street.  The vehicle owner found that someone had “keyed” the passenger side of his truck. It is unknown at this time who “keyed” the vehicle.

On 4/19/2010 @2103 the Lititz Police Department investigated a case of criminal mischief in the 100 block of North Lane. An ambulance employee was told by another person of small fire area. The ambulance employee found that small potted pine tree had been set on fire in the area. The witness also mentioned that a young boy had been seen in the area of the fire, but the young boy has not been located. There was no other damage then to the potted tree.

On 4/19/2010 at approximately  0830 hrs. James Malone and Nicole Wagner, both of Lititz, were in a minor vehicle accident in the 700 Block of South Broad Street. There were no injuries.

On 4/21/2010 the Lititz Borough Police investigated a single vehicle, non injury accident at 7 North  New Street. The accident occurred when 17 year old driver turned too sharply onto North New Street from North Cedar Street. There were no reported injuries.

On 4/22/2010 @ 1610 hrs the Lititz Police Department investigated a vehicle accident at the intersection of South Cedar Street and East Marion Street  when the rider stated his brakes failed and he dran into a vehicle traveling east on East Marion Street . The 13 year old stated he was not injured and was checked by the Warwick EMS, and was released to the custody of his parents.

On 5/01/2010 @ 2221 hrs the Lititz Police Department located 2 vehicles parked to the rear of the old Warwick Middle School. During the stop an officer located a 15 year old Lititz male that had consumed alcohol. The male’s parents were contacted and the male was cited for consumption of alcohol with a BAC of .091%. The male was released into parent’s custody. Other persons with the vehicles were not consuming alcohol and they were released.

On April 29 2010 Jeffery Sheaffer  Jr. and Helen cooper, both of Lititz were involved in a motor vehicles accident in the 500 block of West 2nd Ave. There were no injuries, but both vehicles required towing.  Sheaffer was cited with careless driving.

Fire- On 4/1/10 at 11:15 pm, police were called to the 100 block of South Walnut Street for a building fire. A juvenile was referred to youth aid panel for causing a fire inside his residence.  

Vandalism- On 4/1/10 at 1:26 pm, police  responded to the first block of East Lincoln Avenue for a house that was egged.

 Vandalism- A resident of the 700 block of South Cedar Street reported that his vehicle was spray painted while parked in front of his residence sometime between April 2nd and April 5th, 2010. The damage consisted of red and black spray paint on the drivers side of the vehicle.

 Indecent Exposure- On 3/27/10 at 6:47 pm, police arrested Timothy John Otter, 43, of Lititz for indecent exposure, open lewdness and public drunkenness. Otter was arrested after police were summoned to the 200 block of North Lane for a male that exposed his genitals to several people nearby including children. Otter was arraigned on the charges and committed to Lancaster County Prison after he failed to post bail.

 Disorderly Conduct- On 4/8/10, a 13 year old juvenile male was cited for disorderly conduct. .The charge stemmed from a fight that occurred at the Warwaick Middle School on March 17th, 2010.

 Vandalism- On 4/6/10, an employee of the Woodstream Corp. reported that they had a window shot out in the building sometimte overnight. The projectile appeared to be a BB gun. The window is located along North Locust Street.

 Vehicle Accident- On 4/6/10 at 5:00 pm, police investigated a vehicle accident involving a "run-away" horse and buggy. The accident occurred in the area of North Water Street and Front Street. Both motorists were southbound on Water Street and a north bound horse and buggy without a driver struck both of their vehicles. After the buggy struck the last vehicle, the buggy tipped over and bystanders held the horse until the owner could arrive. Both vehicles received minor damage and the Buggy had wheel damage which was repaired by the owner at the scene. The horse was not injured. The horse and buggy had been secured at the Lititz Welcome Center and the horse became frightened when an emergency vehicle passed the Welcome Center.

 Alcohol Abuse- On 3/26/10 at 11:07, the police responded to the Warwick High School for an unruly, intoxicated student. The school reported that ateacher observed a student appeard to be intoxicated, had blood shot eyes and was unsteady on his feet. The student was brought to the High School and the Police were contacted. On arrival the stuent had in his possession an empty 2 liter soft drink bottle, which had a smell of an alcoholic beverage. The student was arrested and returned to the police station. A breath test was taken with a resut of .233%, almost 3 times the legal limit. The boy was 17 years old and was eventually released into the custody of a parent and was issued a citation for consumption of alcohol.

 Terroristic Threat- In early March, 2010, police were notifed by the principal of the Bonfield Elementary School of a threat made by one student to another. .During the Police investigation it was determinded that the 6th grade, 12 year old male, made a threat to another student through a text message. The boy will be petitioned to the Lancaster County Juvenile Officials, arrested for Terroristic Threats. He will stay in the custody  of his parents.

 Hit and Run- On 3/22/10 at 3:50 pm, police investigated an accident at the intersection of Spruce and Lemon Streets. A witness to the accidnet heard a collision and saw that a vehicle had  struck a parked vehicle and left the scene. The witness obtained the licesne plate number of the vehicle and the police contacted the driver at her employer. The driver stated she thought she had hit something but was unsure and needed to get to work. The police will investigate the accident and contact both owners.

 Vandalism- On 4/4/10, police investigated several incidents of spray painting done to vehicles in the 600 and 700 blocks of South Cedar Street and also the 100 block of North Cedar Street. Several vehicles were spray painted with either red or black spray paint. Some vehicles were parked on the roadway while others were parked in the rear of homes.

 Underage Drinking- On 3/20/10 at 9:17 pm, a resident of the 200 block of East 6th Street reported a possible attempted entry into his residence. The resident viewed a teenage male attempting to get into the front door of his house. The teen then ran to the rear door and attempted entry. The police arrived on the scene and located a teen matching the description near the intersection of 6th and Laurel Avenues. The 15 year old male was found to be highly intoxicated and was placed under arrest. The teen was arrested for Consumption of an alcoholic beverage and released to his mother. The teen lived in the area and may have confused which home was his, due to his intoxicated condition.

 Criminal Trespass- On 4/2/10, police responded to the Parkview Hotel for a patron refusing to leave. On location, police found Jared Lowe, 30 of Lititz, refusing to leave the bar. Mr. Lowe was given a ride home and was told not to return, however, Mr. Lowe returned shortly afterwards. He was arrested and cited for Public Drunkenness and Criminal Trespass.

 Underage Drinking- On 3/13/10 at 11:20 pm, police checked on 3 persons walking in the 200 block of East Main Street. When one of the people saw the office, he fled the scene on foot. The officer made contact with this person  and discovered that he had consumed alcohol and fled the scene due to being under the age of 21. Jeremy Watson, 18 of the 100 Block of South Cedar Street, was cited for underage drinking and was released. A breath test revealed a BAC of .94%.

 Trespassing- On 3/10/10 at 5:09 pm, police responded to a trespassing in progress at the "Old" Warwick Middle School. School staff had noticed that persons were getting into the "Old" middle school during the time the school was being cleaned of asbestos. The staff was monitoring the school and found that 3 females, ages 13 and 14, trespassed into the school. On arrival, the girls's attempted to hide in the basement area of the school but were found by the police. Each female juvenile was returned to the police station and their parents were notified. They will be referred to the Warwick youth Aide for disposition of the charge of Defiant Trespassing. Each was or is a current Warwick School District Student.

 Terroristic Threats- On 3/15/10, Charlie Carter, age 44, of Lancaster was charged with Harassment and Terroristic Threats stemming from text messages that he sent to a Lititz resident.

 Public Drunkenness- On 3/15/10, Ian Detweiler, 18 of Lititz, was charged with False ID to Law Enforcement, Loitering and Prowling at night, Disorderly Conduct, and Underage Drinking, resulting from an incident on Tuesday March 9th.

 Harassment- On 3/12/10, police responded to a domestic situation on Pennwick Drive. 2 times within a 20 minute period the police responded to the same address.  On arrival the 2nd time, the officers saw a physical confrontation between both persons. Both of them denied being physical with the other, but with the incident viewed by the officers, both will be cited for Harassment. Cited were Jessica A. Misener, age 25, and Dutch James Lermineau, age 24. Both will receive citations.

January 28, 2010

The Lititz Borough Police investigated a vehicle accident that occurred on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 4: 59 PM at the intersection of West Second Avenue & Pine Lane.  A vehicle driven by Kathy V. Thompson, 49 of Lititz struck a street sign at that intersection.  No injuries were reported.

Carl Clouser Jr was driving a Ford truck south on Penwick Dr and Sabrina Bates was driving a Toyota north on Penwick Dr.  As both drivers passed each other, they both sideswiped each other, causing minor damaged to each other’s vehicles.  No injuries were reported on scene and the vehicles did not require any tow.

Intoxications

On Sunday January 24, 2010, at 1:30 am Jared Lowe, 30, of 100 block of E. New St. was dropped off by Manheim Twp PD for an incident that had occurred in their jurisdiction.  Lowe was intoxicated and became disorderly.  The police were in the block dealing with Lowe from 1:30 am until approx. 4:45 am on three (3) separate calls of a disturbance.  Due to his intoxication and conduct Lowe will be charged with three(3) counts of Public Drunkenness and three(3) counts of Disorderly Conduct, two of which became Misdemeanors due to his continuing actions and failure to desist.

Possession Charges

On January 27, 2010, at 2:00 am, Lititz Borough Police arrested Nicholas Matthew Williams, 26, of 360 North Broad Street Apt #4, Lititz, for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Earlier that evening, Lititz Borough Police were called to the residence of 360 North Broad Street Apt#4, for a reported Burglary that had just occurred.  Upon arrival, police learned from a neighbor that an unknown male was seen running from the apt wearing a black hoodie jacket.  Police discovered the apartment front door had been forced opened and items were thrown about and turned over inside the apartment.  The resident Nicholas Williams was not home at this time of the burglary.

Police also discovered a significant amount of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia in plain sight in the living room and bedroom of the apartment.  Williams was located and notified to respond back to his residence for the reported burglary.

Williams later admitted to owning the Marijuana.  Charges have been filed through District Judge Daniel B. Garrett’s office.

On Thursday January 7th of 2010, Cathy Speitel of Lancaster and Adrienne Long of Manheim were involved in a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of W 6th Street and S. Spruce Street in Lititz. There were no Injuries.

The Lititz Borough Police arrested Benjamin F. Gearhart for Public Drunkenness on Wednesday, January 13th of 2010 at 3:06pm after someone reported that he was intoxicated on the property of a local nursing home.

The Lititz Borough Police investigated a vehicle accident that occurred on Thursday, January 14th of 2010 at 7:06am at Raspberry Lane & East Lock-up Lane. Robert J. Turzi of Willow Street struck a Manheim Township Ambulance that was parked while the crews were attending to a patient near-by. No injuries were reported.

On January 16th of 2010 The Lititz Borough Police arrested Stephanie J. West (21) of Lititz for DUI and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia followed by a traffic stop at 2:25am.

On January 20th of 2010 Sandra Yost of Lititz was arrested for driving under the influence in the area of North Lane and N. Cedar street Police were alerted by driver who was almost struck by Yost. Yost had a BAC of 0.105%.

On January 23rd of 2010 Lititz Police arrested a Derek Jay Rose (25) of 112 Pennwick Drive Lititz Pa for 2 counts of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, and driving without a license. Rose was stopped  after he was observed driving erratically. Rose was stopped on North Street off of Front Street. Rose had a BAC of .162%. A passenger in Rose’s vehicle a Sandy William Griffith from Ephrata (19) was cited for underage drinking. Both subjects were released after their arrest.

On December 23rd of 2009 at 1:34am The Lititz Borough Police arrested Charles Elmer Bury (53) of Lititz for DUI, Driving with a suspended driver's license, Driving an unregistered vehicle, Driving an uninspected vheicle and Driving a vehicle without insurance following a traffic stop in the 600 block of East Main Street. 

On January 4th of 2010 at 11:33 am The Lititz Borough Police investigated a vehicle accident in the 700 block of South Broad Street. James R. Parmer (28) of Lititz was cited after he attempted to enter the roadway from a business and traveled into the path of a vehicle driven by Alvin Kayor JR (85) of Lititz. Both vehicles were towed from the scene and both drivers reported injuries. 

On January 1st of 2010 Lititz Police investigated an accident at the intersection of South Spruce Street and Orange Street. A vehicle being driven by Heather Archuleta was traveling on South Spruce Street and had proceeded across the intersection in front of a mini van being operated by a 17 year old female from Brownstown. Archulet's vehicle was forced onto the sidewalk and made contact with house at 101 South Spruce Street. Upon investigation by Police, it was discovered that Archuleta was under the influence of alcoholic beverages.

 On January 7th of 2010 a Resident at 203 Deerfield Lane reported to police that between the hours of 11:00am and 12:30pm hours. He had several packages taken from his front porch that had been delivered by UPS. Several similar thefts have occurred in the Lititz area. The police department ask that anyone having any information about the thefts to contact the Lititz Police at 717-626-6393.

The Lititz Borough Police investigated a vehicle accident that occurred on December 13th of 2009 at 9:16am in the first block of West Lincoln Avenue. A vehicle driven by Shawna K. Burghart of Lititz struck a curb and had to be towed from the scene. 

The Lititz Borough Police investigated a vehicle accident that occurred on the 000 block of East Main Street on Friday, December 11 of 2009 at 11:42am. Vehicles driven by Sharon Ann Clawser (40) of Lititz and James Henry Siebert (62) of Lititz were involved. No injuries were reported.  

The Lititz Borough Police investigated a vehicle accident on Wednesday, December 16 of 2009 at 3:24pm at the intersection of South Broad Street (SR501) & West Orange Street. Vehicles driven by Wayne A. King (42) of Quarryville and Derek W. Miller (19) of Manheim were invovled. No Injuries were reported.

On December 8th of 2009 The Lititz Borough Police investigated a vehicle accident in the first block of East Main Street. Vehicle driven by Sandra Boyer (61) of White Haven PA and Beulah M. Martin (65) of Lancaster were involved. No injuries were reported, however Boyer’s vehicle was towed from the scene.

On December 9th of 2009 the Lititz Police responded to the 1st Block of Maple Street to take report of vehicles that were entered and items removed. Several vehicles on the block were entered sometime between 8pm and 10:45pm. Glove boxes and consoles were entered and one victim reported a theft of cash from inside of her vehicle. Residents are urged NOT TO LEAVE items of value inside of their vehicles. If there are any witnesses to this incident they are  urged to contact Lititz Police at 626-6393.

The Lititz Borough Police arrested Kevin Sean Lovendoski (50) of Manheim for DUI, Aggravated Assault (against a police officer) and a traffic lane violation On November 19th at 6:36 pm. Police were dispatched to a single-vehicle at the intersection of West Second Avenue & South Spruce Street where a vehicle driven by Lovendoski failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, drove thru a grass island, crossed over another roadway and traveled over a curb and sidewalk and into a playground where his vehicle finally stopped. Lovendoski kicked a police officer twice as police was trying to sit him in the rear of a patrol vehicle. Lovendoski was arraigned on the charges in committed to Lancaster County Prison in default of a $25,000 straight case bail.

On November 7th of 2009 Lititz Police arrested Derek Paul Goodman (19) of Lititz for DUI, Underage Drinking and false reports stemming from a vehicle accident in the 200 block of North Locust Street Goodman struck a PPL telephone pole and were found to be under the influence of alcohol.

On November 20th of 2009 Denise Warner of Lititz reported that someone had taken cash from her child’s wallet earlier in the week while he played basketball inside the Lititz Rec to secure their property while participating in activities. Other thefts have been recently reported at the Rec.

On Friday November 20th of 2009 Joshua Tillery (18) of Lititz was driving west on East Second Ave. In his mother’s 1994 Chevrolet S-10 Truck. Tillery reported that his foot became stuck in between the accelerator and the brake pedal causing him to lose control and striking a tree in from of 49 E Second Ave. Lititz Fire Department and ambulance 25 responded to scene to assist truck had to be towed due to damage.

Elam King of Lititz was driving his horse and buggy and side swiped a parked car in the area of front and Liberty Street on Saturday November 21st of 2009.

On November 21st of 2009 Michele Dochat reported that someone had taken an ornamental flag and a blue gazing ball from her front yard.

On November 22nd of 2009 Kione Reid (25) of Manheim was arrested at 21 E Main Street Lititz Apartment 1 for a parole/probation violation issued by the Lancaster County Courts.

On November 23rd of 2009 at 7:30pm Lititz Police arrested Wayne Kirchoff for simple assault following a domestic violence incident that occurred at 21 E Main Street. Wayne was committed to Lancaster County Prison on a probation/parole violation.

On November 24th at 10:45pm the Lititz Borough Police investigated a minor vehicle accident in the 300 block of East Main Street. A Lititz driver struck a legally parked vehicle in that block. No Injuries were reported.

On November 24th at 12:52am Lititz Police arrested Daniel Boyer (30) of Ephrata for DUI for a violation that occurred in the 1st block of West Main Street.

On November 25th at 19:00 hours Lititz Police Dept investigated a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident at the square. Frank Melvin II (39) of Lancaster in a Jeep was turning off of E Main Street onto Broad Crosswalk. Holly Garcia (57) of Lititz and Jose Garcia (57) of Lititz had activated the crosswalk signal. The pedestrians were crossing the east side of Broad Street to the West side. Melvin stated that he made the turn and failed to see the pedestrians in the crosswalk and struck both of the pedestrians. Both pedestrians were transported by the Warwick Ambulance to the Heart of Lancaster for treatment. Melvin is at fault for the accident for “failure to yield right away to pedestrians in crosswalk” .

On November 29th of 2009 at 2:35am Lititz Police arrested Kaw Dah SO (24) of Elizabethtown for DUI for a violation that occurred in the 500 block of East Main Street.

On November 28th of 2009 at 1:00am Lititz Police arrested Emily Donia (25) of Leola for possession of Marijuana for a violation that occurred at the intersection of North Oak Street & East Front Street.

On November 28th of 2009 at 4:03pm Lititz Police arrested Matthew Klohr (25) of Lititz for DUI for a violation that occurred at the intersection of South Cedar Street & East Second Avenue.

CRASH - On November 17that 08:29 hours LBPD responded to the intersection of South Broad St and Second Ave. for a two motor vehicle crash. Lydia J. Bond of Lititz ran the red light while traveling east on Second Ave. while driving her 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier and struck Llewelyn Corbett of Lancaster as he traveled north on south broad street,  As he was driving a 2000 Toyota Celica. Both vehicles were towed by Pal’s Garage due to heavy damage. One of the drivers was transported to the Hospital via ambulance due to a complaint of pain.

CRASH - On November 14th at 12:40 hours the Lititz Police Department investigated a three vehicle accident in the 1st block of S. Broad Street. All three vehicles were southbound on 501, when unit one Rosann Hoover (25) of Lititz failed to see stopped traffic ahead and unit one struck unit two Patricia Williams (59) of Cranford NJ pushing unit two into unit three driven by James Antonucci (30) of Myerstown PA. There were no reported injuries and no towing required. Rosann is at fault for the accident.

STOLEN LAWN MOWER - On Friday November 13th Lititz police took a report of a stolen lawn mower from a resident of Center Street. It appeared that theft happened during daylight hours as the lawn mower was taken from an unsecured carport. Likewise, on November 16th Lititz police took a report of a stolen pressure washer from a resident of Center Street. The pressure washer like the lawn mower was taken from an unsecured area near a back deck. Lititz police ask that anyone having information about these thefts please call 626-6393. Lititz police always ask that residents living between E. Orange and E. 2nd Street make sure to lock their garages and sheds and secure any motorized lawn equipment. It would appear that both of these thefts occurred in the day time, so police also ask to report any suspicious individuals in the area.

DUI - The Lititz Borough Police arrested Andria Jean Sharpe (49) of Lititz for DUI on Sunday November 8th of 2009 at 1:21am for a violation that occurred in the 100 block of North Broad Street.

ROAD CLOSED - The Lititz Borough Police Department is reporting a planned road closure and detour. On Wednesday November 18th of 2009 starting at approximately 8am and going thru-out the entire day and into the evening hours, 501 will be closed to all traffic at the railroad track crossing, with rubberized surface and new paving in the area. The construction will take the entire day and affect traffic. Detour routes will be posted. All motorists are urged to leave earlier then normal for their regular commutes and use the posted detour routes Pedestrian Traffic should still be available at the construction area Any questions please contact the Lititz Borough Police Department at 626-6393.

On November 10th at 22:00 hours the Lititz Police Dept. investigated an accident in the 700 block of south broad street. A driver was southbound on 501 and was attempting to turn into a business in the 700 block of S. Broad Street and was distracted and struck a tree in front of the business. There were no reported injuries. No towing and very little damage to the tree.

DUI- The Lititz Borough Police arrested Stephen Dennis Zimmerman (47) of Creekside Lane in Lititz for DUI on Saturday, October 31st of 2009 at 12:31am for a violation that occurred at the intersection of North Broad Street and North Lane.

DUI- The Lititz Borough Police arrested Joel A. Knable Sr. (46) of Lititz for DUI on Monday October 19th of 2009 at 2:19am for a violation at the intersection of North Broad Street and North Lane.

DUI- The Lititz Borough Police arrested Michael C. Diaz (30) of Manheim for DUI on Saturday, October 17th of 2009 at 2:29am for a violation that occurred in the 300 block of West Orange Street.

DUI- The Lititz Borough Police have charged Amber Marie Hoover (29) of Marietta with DUI and two hit-and-run violations stemming from several 911 calls of a reckless driver and an accident which occurred in 700 Block of Furnace Hills Pike in Warwick Township on Thursday, October 8th of 2009 at 10:54pm
