DUI Christopher A. Brown, 29, Coatesville, faces DUI and related charges, after he was observed riving in an unsafe manner near the 600 block of Pine Street, Denver, at 10:08AM June 13. Brown displayed signs of intoxication and was taken to ECH for a blood draw.
DUI Crash Douglas T. Lins, 43, Mohnton, faces Dui and related charges after a one-vehicle crash in the 100 block of Smokestown Road at 6:00PM June 14. He failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, struck a curb, a fence and a tree. He was not injured. He displayed signs of intoxication and failed sobriety tests.
Vandalism Sewer vent pipes, located at Weave Corp., North 3rd Street, Denver, were clogged by landscaping stones sometime between June 11 and June 16. The cost to clear the pipes was $1140.
Theft - A purse and its contents, valued at $80 were reported stolen at the Adamstown Transfer Company, 26 Willow Street, Adamstown, at about 7:20PM June 15.
Theft Two pieces of jewelry, valued at $300, were reported stolen from a bedroom dresser at 43C Mechanic Street, Reinholds, during the night of June 12/13.
Theft - $300 worth of electronic gear was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 500 block of Stonecrest Court between 2:00AM and 5:30AM on June 18.
Burglary Between midnight and 6:00AM on June 18, someone entered the residence at 47 Sunrise Circle, Denver, and removed a satellite radio, a purse, and a trac phone. The total value of the loss is estimated at $175.
Burglary During the night of June 17/18, someone entered the garage of the residence at 502 Stonecrest Court and removed a lawn mower, a trimmer, and a rifle case. The loss is estimated at $$960.
Crash Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in the 2800 block of North Reading road at 10:00PM June 18. Viola J. Specht, 73, Reinholds, entered the roadway from a parking lot into the path of a motorcycle operated by James W. Martin, 49, Narvon. Martin and his passenger, Lisa Martin, 46, were transported to Reading 8Hospital for treatment. Reinholds and Reamstown Ambulances, Medic 4, Medic 9, and the Adamstown Fire Company also responded.
Theft A change box containing $200 in coins was reported stolen from the concession stand at the Adamstown Swimming Pool, 400 West Main Street, between June 17 and June 19.
Crash A passenger in a vehicle that was involved in a crash in the 300 block of South Cocalico Road at 8:38AM June 20 was taken to ECH for treatment. A vehicle operated by a 17-year old juvenile drifted over the center line, causing a vehicle operated by Corey J. Martin, 20, Schaefferstown to take evasive action to avoid a collision. Martins vehicle struck a utility pole, at which time Martins passenger, Brittany Martin, 20, also of Schaefferstown, was injured. Responding units included Medic 4, Denver Rescue, Ephrata and Reinholds Ambulance and the Schoeneck Fire Company.
Crash One person was injured in a two-car crash in the 200 block of West Swartzville Road at 1:37PM June 20. Heather Lash, 34, Lancaster, a passenger in a vehicle operated by Brendan Lash, 31, Lancaster, was injured when the vehicle she was in impacted with the rear of a vehicle operated by Melody Karick, 41, Reinholds. Karick had stopped to make a left hand turn. Reinholds Ambulance responded.
DUI Crash Jared Capwell, 27, Reamstown, faces DUI and related charges after a one-vehicle crash in the first block of Martin Drive at 8:50PM June 20. Capwell lost control of the vehicle he was operating and struck a tree. He displayed signs of intoxication and failed sobriety tests.
DUI Crash Shawn McKinney,32, Ephrata, faces DUI charges as the result of a one-vehicle crash in the 800 block of White Oak Road at 8:30PM June 5. McKinney struck a tree and he and a passenger sustained injuries. Charges are pending the result of a blood test.
Disorderly Conduct/Trespassing Desmond Schanzter, 20, Reinholds and Justin Ingram, 20, Stevens, were charged with Disorderly Conduct and Trespassing after they had climbed onto the roof of Weaver Markets, 700 West Rt. 897 at 9:50PM June 6 and began to throw water balloons at passers-by.
DUI crash Jennifer M. Welch, 28, Reamstown, faces DUI charges after she involved in a one-car crash in the first block of heron drive at 3:44AM June 7.
Simple Assault/Domestic Violence Elizabeth Chevas-Lopez, 42, East Main Street, Adamstown, was arrested and charged with Simple assault after a domestic dispute at her residence at 11:00PM June 8.
Crash Troy L. Roland, 44, Ephrata, was injured in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of North Reading Road and Bunker Hill Road at 11:05PM June 11.
Public Drunkenness Allen D. Terry, 62, Reinholds, was cited for Public Drunkenness after he was observed in an intoxicated state at the intersection of Mechanic Street and Lincoln Avenue in Reinholds at 2:16AM June 12.On June 7, 2010, at approximately 5:17 PM, East Cocalico Township Police Department was dispatched to Circle Drive Reinholds, West Cocalico Township for a suspicious bottle that had been placed in a rural mailbox. The responding officer found a 2- liter soda bottle in a rural mailbox that contained what appeared to be aluminum foil and a blue liquid substance. The officer called for assistance from Reinholds Fire Department. Fire department personnel removed the 2- liter bottle and a short time after removing the bottle from the rural mailbox the bottle detonated. Anyone who finds a suspicious item in their mailbox should not move the item and should immediately contact the police. Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact East Cocalico Township Police Department 717-336-1725Dog Law Violation Diana Shahade, 48, Denver, was cited for violating the state dog law in the 800 block of Evergreen Street, Denver, on May 13.
Burglary A camper located at the Cocalico Creek Campground in West Cocalico Twp. was entered between April 22 & 23, items valued at $35 were stolen.
Burglary A camper located at the Hickory Run Campground in West Cocalico Twp. was entered sometime prior to April 26. A Playstation, DVDs, and electronic games valued at $1150 were stolen.
Theft Tools valued at $130 were reported stolen from a camper at 1055 Forest Road in West Cocalico Twp. on April 27.
Theft An orange BMX Intruder bicycle, valued at $75, was reported stolen from 86 West Main Street, Adamstown, between April 24 & 25.
Theft A skateboard valued at $200 was reported stolen from 55 North Reamstown Rd. on April 27.
Hit & Run Three sections of fencing were damaged in a hit & run crash at 108 South 6th Street in Denver Borough on April 28.
Vandalism Six windows, valued at $2,000 were broken out of a piece of railroad stock in the 300 block of Locust Street, Denver, between April 22 and 28.
Theft A 2.5 gallon gas can was reported stolen from 246 Jefferson Road in Adamstown between April 20 & 28.
Threats A 15-year old juvenile will be referred to the Youth Aid Panel after he made threats at Cocalico High School on April 28.
Burglary Various items valued at $127 were stolen from a camper at the Cocalico Creek Campground, 560 North Cocalico Rd. in West Cocalico Twp. between April 20 & 28.
Crash One person was injured in a two-car crash at the intersection of North Reading and Bunker Hill Roads at 6:54PM April 29. A vehicle operated by June I. Terry, 77, Fivepointville, entered North Reading Rd. from Bunker Hill, into the path of a vehicle driven by William C. Knight Jr., 30, Ephrata. Terry was taken to Reading Hospital by the Reamstown Ambulance.
Underage Drinking & drug violation Two 16 year-old juveniles face a variety of charges, including underage drinking, drug possession and Disorderly Conduct after an incident in the first block of Kestrel Drive at 5:14PM April 29.
Pending DUI Police stopped Andrew R. Walker, 21, New Holland, for a traffic violation at 10:30PM April 29 in the 2500 block of North Reading Rd. Walker displayed signs of intoxication and failed sobriety tests. Charges are pending the results of a blood test.
Theft - $100 in cash was reported stolen during a yard sale at 27 School Lane, Stevens on April 30.
Burglary A digital camera, DVDs, and several bottles of alcohol were reported stolen sometime between April 18 and April 30 from a camper located at the Cocalico Creek Campground, 560 North Cocalico Road in West Cocalico Twp. The value of the stolen items is placed at $700.
Burglary Two small portable radios, valued at $100, were reported stolen sometime between April 20 and April 30 from a camper located at the Cocalico Creek Campground, 560 North Cocalico Road in West Cocalico Twp.
Alcohol offenses A 16-year old student was charged with Public Drunkenness and underage drinking after he was found to be in an intoxicated state at Cocalico High School at 10:05AM April 30.
Public Drunkenness Police observed Melvin S. Kauffman Jr., 45, Narvon, in an intoxicated state in the parking lot of the Turkey Hill store at 2501 North Reading Road at 12:14AM May 1. Kauffman was cited with Public Drunkenness.
Theft Two bicycles, valued at $600 were reported stolen from 64 East Church Street, Reamstown between 1:00PM and 2:30PM on May 1. Both bikes were BMX-types, one maroon and the other tan and green.
Pending DUI Police observed Stephen D. Rissell, 20, Reinholds, driving in an unsafe manner in the 300 block of Stevens Rd. at 12:37AM May 2. He displayed signs of intoxication and failed sobriety tests. He will be charged with DUI and underage drinking upon receipt of blood test results.
DUI crash Dale F. Dehart, 47, Reamstown, faces possible DUI charges after he lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole in the 600 block of West Swartzville Rd. at 2:58AM May 2. Dehart displayed signs of intoxication at the scene before being taken to Reading Hospital. Reinholds Ambulance and Fire Company and Medic 4 also responded.
DUI crash Erik G. Fuss, 29, Fredericksburg, PA, faces DUI charges after a one-car crash in the 2500 block of North Reading Road at 12:31AM May 6. Fuss lost control of his vehicle and struck the curb on the opposite side of the roadway. He failed sobriety tests at the scene. Charges are pending results of a blood test.
Disorderly Conduct Jay Kosh, 39, 240 Main Street, Denver, was cited for Disorderly Conduct after a disturbance at that location at 725PM May 7.
DUI Crash Cory Beam, 33, Cocalico Creek Road, Stevens, faces DUI and related charges after a one-vehicle crash in the first block of South Reamstown Road at 11:43PM May 7. Beam was travelling south, went off the road and struck a utility police. He then left the scene but was located by police. He failed sobriety tests at the scene. Charges are pending the results of a blood test.
Thefts from vehicles Two unlocked vehicles parked to the rear of the 200 block of Main Street, Denver, were entered during the night of May 8 and several items were stolen. The total value of the thefts was $165.
DUI/Assault At 3:38PM May 10, police were called to the scene of a domestic dispute in the first block of West Church Street. As a result, Aaron M. Hepler, 28, Stevens, faces DUI, Simple assault, and Resisting Arrest charges. Cassandra l. Reedy, 25, Stevens, faces DUI charges.
Hit & Run Nicholas Cozzone, 28, Stevens, faces hit & run charges after leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage in the 200 block of west Main Street, Reinholds, at 2:51AM May 14
Aggravated Assault Shaun Michael Eller, 25, Denver Road, East Cocalico Township, was arrested and charged Aggravated Assault and Terroristic Threats after a disturbance at his residence on May 14. He was arraigned before MDJ Hamill and committed to LCP in lieu of bail.
DUI Michael Scott Goshert, 48, Reamstown, faces DUI charges after he displayed signs of intoxication and failed sobriety tests at the scene of a traffic stop in the first block of West Church Street at 10:30PM May 14. The charges are pending the results of a blood test.
Burglary Two sets of golf clubs and a gas-powered lawn trimmer were stolen from the garage of a residence in the first block of Cheery Lane, East Cocalico Township, during the night of May 14/15. The loss is estimated at approximately $500.
Public Drunkenness Sally Davignon, 24, Orlando, FL, was cited for Public Drunkenness after an incident in the first block of poplar Drive, east Cocalico Township, at 3:43PM May 15.
Public Drunkenness George A. Echternacht, 42, Ephrata, faces Public Drunkenness charges after he was found passed out in a vehicle in the 300 block of South Reamstown Rd. at 2:06AM May 16.
On Tuesday, May 18, 2010, Brian Edward Moskal, 30 years of age of South Cocalico Road, Denver, was arraigned on the following charges, Criminal Homicide, Drug Delivery Resulting in Death, Drug Delivery and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The charges are the result of an investigation of the death of Moskals 4 year old daughter on April 17, 2010. Autopsy and toxicology reports from Forensic Pathologist Dr. Wayne Ross of the Lancaster County Coroners Office ruled the death a Homicide. Reports showed the 4 year old child died from multiple drug toxicity. Dr. Ross concluded the level of Methadone and Alprazolam was fatally toxic. Moskal was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Nancy G. Hamill and was committed to Lancaster County Prison. Moskal is presumed innocent until proven guilty. All media inquiries should be referred to the Lancaster County District Attorneys Office.
Retail Theft Tabitha Lyn Rupp, 18, Akron, was charged with retail Theft after an incident at Weaver Markets, 2590 North Reading Road at 10:34AM May 17.
Burglary A laptop computer valued at $600 was reported stolen from an apartment at 6 South Reamstown Rd. between May 15 and 16.
Hit & Run Crash A hit & run driver struck a utility pole in the 600 block of Poplar Street in Denver Borough at 1:10AM May 18. The incident is under investigation.
Crash One person was injured in a two-car crash in the first block of East Main Street, Adamstown at 8:25AM May 19. A vehicle operated by Kayla Good, 21, Adamstown, pulled into the path of a vehicle operated by Sandra Gideon, 42, Denver. Gideon was transported to ECH for treatment.
Theft A CB Radio valued at $125 was reported stolen out of a parked car in the first block of North 3rd Street, Denver Borough, at 2:05AM on May 20. The vehicle was unlocked.
Theft A credit card and $15 in cash was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the first block of Ridgewood Ave., East Cocalico Twp. between 9:00AM and 12:00 noon on May 19.
Theft - $600 worth of CDs and audio equipment was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the first block of South 4th Street in Denver Borough during the night of May 19/20.
Theft A USPS ID card and a pair of eyeglasses were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 400 block of Walnut Street, Denver, during the night of May19/20.
Burglary A detached garage in the first block of North 3rd Street, Denver was entered during the night of May 19/20, and two unlocked vehicles were entered. Cash, a radio/CD player and a pair of prescription sunglass, all valued at $165.00 were taken.
Theft A GPS unit and a cell phone were reported stolen form a vehicle parked in the 300 block of Main Street, Denver, during the night of May 19/20. The loss is estimated at $155.00.
Theft Two unlocked vehicles parked in the 200 block of North 6th Street, Denver, were entered during the night of May 20/21. A pair of prescription sunglasses was stolen from each vehicle.

DUI Crash Michael Mitchell Jr., 39, Wyomissing, faces possible DUI charges after a one-vehicle crash in the 2400 block of North Reading Road at 12:24AM May 21. Mitchell lost control of his vehicle and struck a curb and a street sign. He failed sobriety tests at the scene. Charges are pending the results of a blood test.
Disorderly Conduct Two 17-year old juveniles face Disorderly Conduct and Scattering Rubbish charges, after they were setting off fireworks at the Adamstown Elementary School at 4:30PM May 21.
DUI Austin Lorah, 21, Stevens, faces possible DUI charges, after he was stopped for a traffic violation in the 1200 block of North Reading Rd. at 1:40AM May 22. Lorah failed sobriety tests at the scene. Charges are pending the results of a blood test.
Vandalism - $1120.00 worth of damage was done to a vehicle parked in the first block of East Main Street, Reinholds, between 1:30AM and 7:30AM May 22.
Theft Two antique snuff boxes valued at $600 were reported stolen from a stand holder at Stoudt Antique Mall, 2800 North Reading Road, Adamstown, on May 23. .
Crash Two people were injured in a crash at the intersection of Stevens Road and North Line Road at 10:32AM February 15. A vehicle operated by Dorothy R. Leibee, 76, Stevens, entered the intersection into the path of a vehicle operated by Kristen Copenhaver, 36, Stevens. Both drivers were taken to ECH for treatment. Responding units included Reamstown Ambulance, Medic 4, and the Stevens Fire Company. Leibee was cited for a stop sign violation.
DUI Police stopped Paul M. Rose, 32, Lancaster, in the 700 block of North Reading Road at 1:50AM for driving with a flat tire. Rose displayed signs of intoxication, and failed field sobriety tests. He was taken to ECH for a blood draw. He was also found to have an active Lancaster County Bench Warrant. He was turned over to sheriffs deputies. The DUI charges are pending the result of the blood test.
DUI/Receiving Stolen Property At 8:44AM February 20, police observed a vehicle along the shoulder of the roadway in the 2300 block of North Reading Road. The occupant, who was behind the wheel, was unconscious. He was identified as Dustin Lee Parmer, 25, Reinholds. He displayed signs of intoxication and failed a field sobriety test. A handgun was observed in his vehicle, which upon investigation was determined to be stolen. Parmer faces charges of DUI, Receiving Stolen Property, Firearms Not To Be Carried Without A Lisence, and Driving Under Suspension.
Crash One person was injured in a one-vehicle crash in the 1400 block of South Cocalico Road in West Cocalico at 7:30PM February 9. Scott L. Behney, 50, Mountain Road, was operating a Kawasaki 40wheeler on a public road, when he went off the roadway and struck a telephone pole. He was taken by the Reinholds Ambulance to Reading Hospital for treatment.
Vehicle Theft A 2001 Ski-Do snowmobile, valued at $5000, was reported stolen in the 400 block of Sportsmans Road, West Cocalico, during the night of February 11/12.
Theft from vehicle A radio and tools valued at $350 were reported stolen from a truck parked in the 100 block of Ebersole Road during the night of February 11/12.
Arson A 1991 Old sedan owned by Ralph Goshert, 78, Lititz, was set on fire outside of the Cocalico Tavern, 1015 North Reading Road, at 12:36AM February 13. The incident is under investigation.
Burglary A pavilion owned by the Reamstown Memorial Park Association, 11 East Church Street, Reamstown, was entered sometime prior to February 13.
Burglary Sometime between February 6 and February 13, someone broke into Apartment 6 at 339 Main Street, Denver, and took a 42 flat panel TV valued in excess of $1000.
Crash Twp people were injured in a one-car crash in the first block of Denver Road at 9:10PM February 2. A vehicle driven by Ariel Morales, 23, reading, went off the road due to snow conditions and struck a culvert. Morales and his passenger, Michael A. Moldanado-Rivera, 24, also of Reading, were taken to Reading Hospital for treatment.
Theft from vehicle A number of blank checks and two collectable toy cars were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 400 block of South 5th Avenue during the night of February 3 and 4. The vehicle was unlocked.
Attempted Burglary Someone entered a garage on the property at 1 Burkey Drive ay about 6:15PM on February 5 and attempted to steal a stereo.
DUI Police stopped Dorothy Gill, Ephrata, for driving in an unsafe manner at 9:23PM January 12 in the 1000 block of North Reading Road. She displayed signs of intoxication and failed sobriety tests. Charges are pending the results of a blood test.
DUI Police stopped Fredrick D. Rittenhouse, 49, Lititz, for driving in an unsafe manner and for driving with an expired registration, in the 100 block of Stevens Road at 3:56AM January 19. Rittenhouse displayed signs of intoxication, failed sobriety tests, and was taken to ECH for a blood draw. Charges are pending the results.
Vehicle Theft A 202 Buick Century sedan, valued at over $6000, was reported stolen from Wanner Ford, 620 North Reading Road, on January 19.
Burglary A barn on the property of the Salem United Church of Christ, 12 east Church Street, Reamstown, was entered during the night of January 19. Items valued at $45 were stolen and several sheep were let loose from their pens.
Warrant Service Heather Suriano, 30, Denver Road, was picked up on a warrant on State Police charges on January 20, and turned over to the State Police.
Theft/Vandalism Two side mirrors on a 2007 Chevy Silverado were stolen, and approximately $600 worth of damage was done in the process while the vehicle was parked at Woodcrest Motors, 1200 North Reading Road during the night of January 19/20.
Warrant Service Police picked up Anthony Kashner, 27, no known address, at 3:25PM January 20 at the Penn Amish Motel on a warrant emanating from the Ephrata Police.
DUI Crash Drew Shober, 50, Hayloft Drive, faces possible DUI charges after a one-car crash in the 900 block of Dogwood Drive at 9:35PM January 20. Shober drove off the side of the road, struck a fence, and became stuck in a field. He then left the scene but was located by the police a short time later. Shober failed sobriety tests and was taken to ECH for a blood draw. Charges are pending the results.
DUI Police stopped Randall Carpenter, 43, Sandy Hill Road, Denver, for driving in an unsafe manner in the 400 block of Swamp Bridge Road at 1:43AM January 21. He failed sobriety tests and was taken to ECH for a blood draw. Charges are pending the results.
DUI Police stopped Sean M. Ditzler, 22, Reamstown, for several traffic offenses in the first block of West Church Street at 12:51AM January 24. He displayed signs of intoxication and failed sobriety tests. He was taken to ECH for a blood draw. Charges are pending the results.
Burglary/Thefts from vehicles Three vehicles parked in the 1300 block of Red Run Road were entered during the night of January 12/13. A small amount of money was taken from two vehicles and an I-pod valued at $220 was taken from a third. Two vehicles parked in an attached garage were entered at a fourth location. A cell phone and currency totaling $130 in value were reported stolen.
Crash Charges are pending against Zachery M. Alsedek, 24, Lititz, after a three-vehicle crash in the 500 block of South 4th Street in Denver Borough at 9:10PM January 15. Alsedek lost control of his vehicle and struck a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle. Alsedek was taken to ECH for treatment by the Reamstown Ambulance. Denver, Stevens, and Schoeneck Fire Companies responded to the scene. Charges are pending.
DUI police stopped Danielle R. Goshert, 32, Wilmington, DE for driving without headlights in the 700 block of Main Street, Denver Borough at 2:10AM January 16. She failed field sobriety tests and was taken to ECH for a blood draw. Charges are pending results.
DUI/DUS Police stopped Kevin S. Quick, 43, Ephrata, for a traffic violation at the intersection of 4th and Main Streets in Denver Borough at 7:01PM January 16. He displayed signs of intoxication and was taken to ECH for a blood draw. He was also found to be driving while his lisence was suspended for a previous DUI. Charges are pending.
Public Drunkenness Richard F. Dieckhaus, 27, Denver, was observed walking in the 1300 block of North Reading Road in an intoxicated condition at 2:44AM January 17. He will be cited for Public Drunkenness.
DUI Drunken Driving charges are pending against Joshua B. Kushtos, 22, Calvin, PA, after he was observed driving in a reckless manner in the first block of Denver Road at 2:15AM January 17. He displayed signs of intoxication and was taken to ECH for a blood test. His passenger, Franklin J. Fortney, 20, York, PA, was cited for underage drinking.
Crash Charlie Yang, 23, Denver, faces charged stemming from a one-vehicle crash in the first block of east Swartzville Rd. at 2:18PM January 5. Yang lost control of his vehicle while reaching for an I-pod and struck two mailboxes. He faces charges of driving while suspended, driving without insurance and careless driving. He was also found to have active warrants out of MDJ Willwerths office. Yang was turned over to the Ephrata Police on those warrants.
Burglary arrest Police apprehended Gregory Michael Shank, 24, Reinholds, as he was exiting a residence on Redstone Circle in West Cocalico Township at 11:25AM January 6. He was arraigned before MDJ Hamill and committed to LCP in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Crash Jennifer Gregonis, 38, Reading, was taken to Reading Hospital after a one-car crash at the intersection of North Ridge Road and Resh Road at 8:07AM January 8. Gregonis left the roadway rounding a curve and struck a telephone pole.
Crash Karen Holzworth, 18, Denver, was injured in a one-car crash in the 1300 block of Wollups Hill Rd. in West Cocalico Twp. at 3;12PM January 8. She lost control in a snow drift and struck a tree. She was taken to ECH for treatment.
Identity Theft Police charged Michelle Anna Heinsey, 39, Reinholds with Identity Theft on December 16 after she used a Denver residents banking information to obtain $1300 in cash from the Ephrata national Bank branch located at 1 Main Street in November 20.
Burglary - $1000 in cash was reported stolen from John Zimmermans Repair Shop, 106 Cocalico Creek Road, on December 24.
DUI Crash Travis Lynn Wentzel, 29, Newmanstown, faces DUI charges after a crash in the 1100 block of West Rt. 897 at 2:58AM December 27. Wentzel was driving south, crossed the opposite lane of travel, sideswiped a pole and slid down an embankment. Wentzel displayed obvious signs of intoxication, and was taken for a blood test. Charges are pending the results.
Trespass/Harassment Charges of Defiant Trespass and Harassment were filed against Joseph Zarro, 70, Reinholds, after a disturbance in the first block of Mohns Hill Road, Reinholds, at 10:07AM December 28.
Vandalism The rear window of a 1993 Nissan Sentra was broken out during the night of December 27/28 to the rear of the 300 block of Main Street, Denver. The damage is estimated at $50.
Crash Jessica Townsley, 23, Ephrata, was taken to ECH for treatment after a two-car crash in the 400 block of Lancaster Avenue, Denver, at 11:10AM December 28. Townsley struck the rear of another car that was stopped waiting to make a turn.
DUI DUI charges are pending against Elizabeth A. Clark, 68, Reinholds, after she went off the roadway in the 200 block of Adamstown Road at 9:06PM December 28. She displayed signs of intoxication and was taken to ECH for a blood test.
Crash Timothy M. Seager, 51, Denver, was taken to ECH for treatment after a one car crash at the intersection of South 4th Street and Lancaster Avenue in Denver at 7:13AM December 31, Seager apparently slid on the freshly fallen snow and struck two utility poles.
Burglary Several laundry machines sustained extensive damage after the laundry building for the housing complex at 99 Monroe Street, Denver, was entered during the night of January 1 and 2.
Theft From Vehicle A GPS unit valued at $130 was reported stolen from a parked vehicle in the 300 block of Grant Street, Adamstown, during the night of 2/3 January.
DUI Crash Charges are pending against James Michael Zwally, 23, Shillington, PA, as the result of a one car crash at the intersection of Snyder and Monroe Streets in Denver Borough at 3:10AM December 6. Zwally displayed signs of intoxication and was taken to ECH for a blood draw.
Drug Violation Brett M. Keller, 18, Reinholds, faces drug possession charges after he was stopped for a traffic violation in the first block of North Ridge Road at 10:15PM December 16. A pickle jar containing 14 grams of marijuana was in plain view on the back seat.
Theft Seven Pennsylvania inspection stickers were reported stolen from Zimmerman Autos, 106 Cocalico Creek road on December 16.
DUI Paul Stanley Kopec, 46, East Summit Drive, faces DUI and related charges after he was stopped for a traffic violation in the 1st block of East Church Street at 12:18AM December 16. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to ECH for a blood test.
DUI Police stopped Lee-Rae Durkas, 38, Schoeneck, for unsafe driving in the 200 block of South King Street at 1:20AM December 16. She displayed signs of intoxication and was taken for a blood test. Charges are pending the results.
Theft Four wheels and tires valued at $2200, were reported stolen from a trailer parked at Gold Rush, Inc, 920 Stone Hill Road, sometime within the last 3 weeks.
Warrant Service Police arrested Frederick VanOrden, 46, Dry Tavern Road, at 6:00PM December 18, on outstanding Luzerne and Berks County warrants. He was taken to LCP.
DUI Police stopped Pau Chenh, 50, Adamstown, for unsafe driving in the 100 block of West Main Street, Adamstown at 8:13PM December 18. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to ECH for a blood draw. Charges are pending test results.
DUI Crash Glenn Swietzer, 51, Reamstown, was inured when the snowmobile he was operating crashed into a vehicle in the first block of North Reamstown Road at 5:40PM December 19. Police observed indications of intoxication at the scene. He was taken to LGH for treatment where a blood sample was taken. Charges are pending those results.
DUI Police stopped Kimberly S. Weaver, 37, Leola, for a stop sign violation at the intersection of West Church and North Reamstown Roads at 1:26AM December 6. Weaver displayed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests. Charges are pending the results of a blood test.
Vandalism The side mirror was knocked off of a car parked in the 600 block of Main Street in Denver Borough during the night of December 7 and 8. The damage is estimated at about $400.
Crash One person was treated for injuries after a three car, chain-reaction crash in the 1200 block of North Reading Road at 4:08PM December 8. Rita Mumma, 59, Ephrata, was cited for failing to drive at a safe speed after she impacted the rear of a vehicle that was stopped for traffic. That vehicle then struck the rear of the vehicle in front of it. The driver of that vehicle, Matthew Behr, 26, Denver, was taken to ECH for treatment.
Fatal Crash Summer D. Stewart, 19, Buckwheat Drive, Denver, was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-car crash on US Rt. 222 at 3:55AM December 13. The preliminary investigation indicates that Stewart was driving north in the southbound lanes of Rt. 222, and struck a southbound vehicle operated by Uri Huresh, 39, Lancaster. Huresh was taken to LGH for treatment. Assisting units included the Reamstown Fire Company, Denver Rescue, Ephrata Rescue, Stevens Fire Company, the Reamstown and Fivepointville Ambulances, Medic 4 from ECH, and the Ephrata Police Department. The crash is still under investigation.
Fatal Crash Howard J. Fisher, 80, Sinking Spring, was killed in a one-car crash in the 500 block of North Ridge Road in West Cocalico Township at 8:40AM December 13. Fishers vehicle had traveled off the road and had struck a tree. He was taken to Reading Hospital by the Reinholds Ambulance, where he later died of his injuries. The police are continuing their investigation.
Weather-related crashes The department investigated a total of 10 weather-related vehicle crashes on December 13 throughout its coverage area on December 13.
On December 12th of 2009 at 11:00 hours. Wililam Clair Stauffer of Reading was seen in Weavers Store and was attempted to remove two knives without paying for them. Charges filled 02-3-06.
On December 22ed of 2009 at 22:00 hours, Lauren Mullaney (46) had reported that she had several items taken from her vehicle which was parked unlocked in from of her residence. Anyone with any information should contact the Pennsylvania State Police Ephrata at 717-721-7667.
On December 23rd of 2009, The PA State Police investigated a one vehicle crash at Twin County Road (Caernarvon Twp). The driver, Wayne Grow (34) of Coatsvillewas operating a Ford Explorer and was traveling West on Best Road and failed to stop at the stop sign at Rt. 10. He continued straight ahead several hundred feet and stuck a second cattle gate which damaged the wire fence which was attached. He continued another approx. 200 feet and came to rest in the snow convered field. He was subsequently arrested for DUI.
Vandalism A dusk-to-dawn light and a water fountain were reported destroyed at the Reinholds Park at 63 West Main Street on November 24.
Crash A 17-year old Newmanstown juvenile was treated at the scene of a one-car crash in the 2100 block of West Rt. 897 at 12:29PM November 25. The driver was south bound at an unknown rate of speed, failed to negotiate a curve and struck a house. The driver was treated at the scene by Reinholds Ambulance personell. The house and car both sustained severe damage. Schoeneck Fire Company and Fire Police also responded.
Possible DUI Kevin Hafer, 28, Stevens, faces possible DUI and controlled substance charges, after he was stopped for driving in an unsafe manner in the 600 block of North Reading Road at 2:53AM on November 26. Hafer failed field sobriety tests and was taken to ECH for a blood draw.
Vandalism Fourteen tombstones were knocked over in the Muddy Creek Cemetery, 11 South Muddy Creek Rd., between November 24 and November 26.
Theft - $35 was reported stolen from a car parked in the 100 block of Hollow Rd., Reinholds, during the night of November 26/27.
Harassment Alexis White, 31, East Main Street, Reinholds, was cited for Harassment after a disturbance at her residence at 2:00PM November 27.
Theft Approximately $500 worth of cash and other items were reported stolen from a car parked in the first block of Pheasant Lane, Reinholds, during the night of November 26/27.
Vandalism Three inflatable lawn Christmas ornaments were slashed in the 500 block of Locust Street, Denver, at approximately 10:20PM November 29. Damage is estimated at $60.
Crash A 17-year old Reinholds juvenile was taken to ECH for evaluation after he lost control of his vehicle on the bridge spanning the Cocalico Creek on Weaver Road at about 5:50PM November 30. The vehicle entered the mill race pond, but the driver was able to exit the vehicle and walked to a nearby business to summon help.
Trespass George Roth, 58, Reinholds, was cited for Trespassing after in incident in the first block of Pelham Drive on November 16.
Crash Richard Fuhrman, 32, Holtwood, PA was taken to ECH for treatment after he struck a deer in the 2800 block of North Reading Rd. in Adamstown at 5:48PM November 17.
Disturbance Fatima Berheiser, 37, Reinholds, was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness after a disturbance in the first block of Rose Drive at 2:48AM November 18.
Theft A bicycle valued at $400 was reported stolen from the yard of a residence in the 300 block of South 4th Street in Denver during the night of November 17 & 18.
Crash William Brown, 56, Reading, was taken to ECH for treatment after he was involved in a one-car crash on US Rt. 222 at 12:48AM November 20. Brown was southbound when he lost control, went into the median and struck a guard rail.
Possible DUI Dustin K. Fullmer, 20, Ephrata, faces alcohol related charges after he was stopped by police in the 7oo block of North Reading Road at 10:00PM November 21. Police observed Fullmer strike a curb and travel into the opposite lane of travel. He displayed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests. He faces charges of DUI, driving while suspended, underage drinking, among other.
Thefts from vehicles Four vehicles parked on Frederick Avenue in East Cocalico Twp. were entered during the night of November 10/11. Approximately $20 was reported missing.
Thefts from vehicles Several vehicles in the Schoeneck and Reinholds areas were entered during the night of November 10/11. Primarily change and cash are the targets.
Indecent Assault Aaron C. Lathan, 43, West Church Street, Reamstown was charged on November 12 with sexually assaulting his daughter, now 17, on several occasions in 2003 when the family lived in Adamstown Borough. He was charged with Indecent Assault, Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse and Corruption of Minors. He was arraigned before MDJ Hartman, New Holland, and committed to LCP in lieu of $400.000 bail.
Disorderly Conduct Allyson E. Ryder, 20, and Charles E. Hicks, 24, both of 229 Main Street, Apt. 2, Denver, have been cited with Disorderly Conduct for continuing to make excessive noise and disturbing their neighbors after having previously been warned to cease doing so at 3:30AM November 14.
Bench Warrant Steven Myers, 25, Columbia, was taken into custody on a Lancaster County Bench Warrant after a traffic stop at 1:00AM November 15. He was turned over to the sheriffs department.
Domestic assault Tanya Marie Moberly, 26, 307 South 4th Street, Denver, was arrested and charged with Simple Assault and harassment after a domestic dispute with her husband at 1:08AM November 15. She was arraigned before MDJ Hartman, New Holland, and committed to LCP in lieu of $7500 bail.
DUI Nevin Jay Schell, 24, 126 South 4th Street, faces DUI and related charges, after he reportedly almost struck the Turkey Hill building at 300 Main Street at 6:35PM November 3. He failed field sobriety tests, and the charges are pending the results of a blood draw.
Drug Violation/Underage Drinking While the above described incident was being investigated, an individual identified as Devon Ramsey, 20, Wollups Hill Road, appeared at the scene because he heard his friend was being arrested. Ramsey displayed obvious signs of intoxication. He was placed under arrest for Public Drunkenness, and a search subsequent to the arrest found him in possession of controlled substances. Charges are pending.
Theft A 20 Diamondback BMX bike was reported stolen from 243 West Main Street, Adamstown, between 5:00PM and 8;00PM on November 3.
Theft A 20 Eastern Racer mountain bike, valued at $230, was reported stolen from 169 East Main Street, Adamstown, between October 31 and November 2.
Harassment Jabari Wallace, 31, 760 Oak Street, was cited with Harassment after a disturbance at his residence at 2:50AM November 4.
DUI Charges are pending against Matthew R. Knight, 20, Lancaster, after he was stopped by police for unsafe driving in the 1700 block of North Reading Road at 8:35AM November 5. He failed sobriety tests and was taken to ECH for a blood draw.
Fraud & Theft Police charged William James Wellman, 57, Ephrata, with Deceptive and Fraudulent Business practices and Theft by Deception on November 6. While operating a photography business between 2006 and 2009, Wellman defrauded victims out of approximately $48,000 for services that had been paid for but never provided. He was arraigned before MDJ Hamill and released on $10,000 bail.
Theft from Vehicle An I-pod valued at $300 was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 300 block of Village Spring Lane, Reinholds, during the night of 8/9 November.
Arrest- On 9/23/09, Kevin Vanbuskirk, 52, Wollups Hill Road was charged with 3 counts of Loitering and Prowling (M-3) in relation to several incidents which occurred on Kline Road, Stevens. Vanbuskirk was sent a summons to appear before MDJ Nancy Hamill's Office.
Theft About 30 feet of copper coil was reported stolen from the property of Rodney J. Good Mechanical, 8 South Broad Street, Adamstown, on October 26. The copper is valued at about $50.00.
Retail Theft Lynda L. Martin, 43, Main Street, Denver, was charged with Retail Theft after she was observed taking a pack of cigarettes from the Turkey Hill Store, 300 Main Street, Denver, on October 28.
Harassment Charles Maiden II, 37, Mohnton, was cited for Harassment after a disturbance at 26 Willow Street, Adamstown, at 11:40PM October 26.
Theft A blue and yellow Huffy brand bicycle was reported stolen from 126 South 4th Street, Denver, on October 27. The bike is valued at $100. [DB]
Vehicle Theft A black 2001 Honda Civic coupe was reported stolen from the area of Rt. 222 and Col. Howard Boulevard between 12:30PM and 5:30PM on October 26.
Theft A red 1986 Suzuki Sport 230 4-wheeler was reported stolen from 95 North Reamstown Road between 10:00PM October 26 and 1:00AM October 27.
Ordinance Violation Nicholas Borolla, 19, Stevens, was cited for violation of Denver Boroughs Roller Vehicle Ordinance in the 200 block of Main Street at 2:26PM October 30.
Crash Shawna L. Tresselt, 30, Hill Rd. Denver, was injured in a one-car crash near the intersection of West Swartzville Rd. and Adamstown Rd. at 7:41AM October 31. Tresselt was southbound on West Swartzville Rd. when she lost control and went off the right side of the roadway and struck a PP&L utility pole. She was taken to Reading Hospital by the Reinholds Ambulance for treatment.
DUI Nicha C. Smith, 24, Reinholds, PA, was stopped for erratic driving in the 2400 block of North Reading Rd. at 4:41AM November 1. She failed sobriety tests and DUI charges are pending the results of a blood draw.
Trespass Police charged Timothy Mark Hynicker, 31, Reinholds, with Defiant Trespass, Criminal Mischief and Harassment after an incident 60 North Ridge Rd., Reinholds, at 6:00PM November 1. He was arraigned before MDJ Hamill and committed to LCP in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Thefts From Vehicles Approximately $90 was stolen from two unlocked cars parked at 3 Locustwood Drive, Reinholds, during the night of November 1 & 2. During the same time period, CDs, cash and other items valued at $480 were stolen from ten vehicles on Resh Road, Reinholds. One vehicle on Parkview Drive was entered, and about $3 in cash was taken. A vehicle in the first block of Spruce Drive was entered and a loaded .45 pistol was taken. In Denver Borough, a vehicle owned by Cocalico Plumbing and Heating parked in the first block of North 4th Street was entered and approximately $300 worth of copper tubing, wire, and plumbing fittings were taken. In almost all instances the vehicles were unlocked.
Crash Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of North reading Road at 7:43PM November 2. A northbound vehicle driven by Amanda R. Miller, 22, Elverson, PA, crossed the centerline and struck a southbound vehicle driven by David Hermalik, 51, Ephrata. Miller and her passenger, Aubrey Evens, 18, Elverson, were taken to Reading Hospital for treatment, while Hermalik was taken to LGH. Reamstown and Reinholds Ambulances responded. The crash is under investigation.
Theft Approximately $300 in scrap metal and air conditioning units were reported stolen from a storage trailer owned by Vertex mechanical, 21 Stevens Road, between October 16 & 17.
Retail Theft Michael Beiler, 31, Adamstown, was arrested and charged with Retail theft after he was seen putting items into his pockets at Weaver Markets, 2610 North Reading Road, at 8:45AM October 20. He was arraigned before MDJ Hamill and committed to LCP in lieu of $3,000 bail.
Theft A 15 year old juvenile was charged in the theft of a laptop computer, valued at $1,230, from a teacher at Cocalico High School on October 20.
Theft Power tolls valued at $120 were reported stolen from a residence in the first block of Mechanic Street, Reinholds, at about 10:00AM October 22.
Theft Two bicycles, each valued at $60, were reported stolen from a yard in the 500 block of Walnut Street, Denver, sometime prior to October 22.
Public Drunkenness Carissa M. Leeland, 22, Denver, was charged with Public Drunkenness after she was observed in an intoxicated condition near the intersection of West Church Street and Stevens Road at 10:36PM October 24.
